Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential qualification, desirable qualifications, age and experience for the above posts are as per Recruitment Rules (2019) for Non-teaching staff in NITs notified vide No.F.35-5/2018-TS.III of MHRD’s letters dated 20.02.2019 and 04.04.2019.
  • For Junior Assistant (Recruitment Rules 2019 extract included in the PDF): Senior secondary (10+2) from a recognized board with a minimum Typing speed of 35 w.p.m. and proficiency in Computer Word Processing and Spread Sheet.
  • Desirable for Junior Assistant: Proficiency in other computer skills; stenography skills.
  • Experience and other conditions are to be read as per the detailed Recruitment Rules (2019) for Non-teaching staff in NITs referred to in the notification.

Salary/Stipend

  • Junior Assistant: Pay Level 3 as per Seventh CPC [equivalent to PB-1 & Grade Pay 2000/- in Sixth CPC].
  • Senior Assistant: Pay Level 4 as per Seventh CPC [equivalent to PB-1 & Grade Pay 2400/- in Sixth CPC].
  • All recruitment and pay-fixation shall be done only on the recommendations of the duly constituted Selection Committee and there shall be no scope of fixing or altering pay outside the Selection Committee.

Age Limit 

  • Maximum age limit shall be as per Recruitment Rules (2019) for Non-teaching staff in NITs.
  • For Junior Assistant (as per Recruitment Rules extract in the PDF): 27 years; relaxable for Departmental Candidates up to five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government.
  • For Senior Assistant: 33 years Note:- Relaxable for Departmental Candidates upto five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government
  • Age limit and other eligibility conditions for all the positions shall be determined on the last date of submission of online application, i.e. 30.01.2026.
  • Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-Servicemen applicants shall be applicable as per Government of India norms. No relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC/PwD applicants applying for Unreserved (UR) vacancies.
  • Category-wise age relaxation beyond the upper age limit:
    • SC/ST: 5 years.
    • OBC (NCL): 3 years.
    • PwD (UR): 10 years.
    • PwD + OBC (NCL): 13 years.
    • PwD + SC/ST: 15 years.
    • Ex-Servicemen: Up to the extent of service rendered in Defence Forces (Army, Navy & Air Force) plus 3 years, subject to production of prescribed certificate.
    • Departmental candidates with three years continuous service in Central Government: 5 years (additional, where applicable).
    • Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re-married: Up to 35 years (up to 40 years for SC/ST), without relaxation of educational qualification or method of recruitment.
    • Regular staff of NITT who were appointed before 2012: Allowed to participate in the selection process irrespective of age and percentage of marks, as per No.F.35-5/2018-TS.III dated 20th February 2019 – point 4.b.(iii).

Application Fee

  • Applicants belonging to UR, EWS, OBC (Non-creamy layer) & Ex-servicemen category shall be required to pay online non-refundable fee of Rs. 1,000/-.
  • The application fee of Rs. 500/- shall be refunded to the Ex-servicemen candidates subject to appearing for the Selection Process i.e. Screening Test.
  • SC/ST/Women applicants are required to pay online Rs. 500/- only towards online application.
  • The PwBD candidates have been exempted from the Application & Processing Fee.
  • The application fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstances (except the specified refund to Ex-servicemen as stated).

Selection Process

  • Screening of online applications received may be done to restrict the number of applicants to be called for selection process. The Institute at its discretion may restrict the number of applicants to be called at any stage of the selection process.
  • List of shortlisted applicants to be called for the selection process on a given date and time will be published on the Institute website only, and such applicants may also be intimated on their registered email id.
  • The Institute may decide to conduct a selection process comprising of multiple stages of selection; details of selection process will be published along with the list of shortlisted candidates.
  • All details related to recruitment process shall be available on the Institute website only; applicants are advised to keep a regular watch on the Institute’s website.
  • Screening of applications will be done on the basis of requirements mentioned in the Recruitment Rules and as per the conditions laid down by the duly constituted Screening Committee.
  • Selection process may consist of Screening Test (only for the purpose of shortlisting of applicants), Skill Test (qualifying in nature) and Main Written Test.
  • Canvassing in any manner would entail disqualification of the candidature.

General Information/Instructions

  • Applicants applying in response to this advertisement should satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the post applied for and must be fulfilling the eligibility criteria as on the closing date of online applications, failing which their application is liable for rejection at any stage.
  • Any requisite experience gained after the minimum qualifying degree will only be taken into consideration.

  • Original documents, along with one set of self-attested copies, must be produced at the time of certificate verification prior to skill test; without original certificates, candidature shall be rejected.

  • The Institute reserves the right not to fill up the posts and to cancel the advertisement in whole or in part, without assigning any reason.
  • Applicants should not have been convicted by any Court of Law and must be in sound health; selected candidates must be prepared to undergo medical examination before the District Medical Board and produce fitness certificate.
  • All appointments are subject to verification of academic qualifications, experience, conduct, community certificates, medical fitness and police verification; any discrepancy may lead to removal from service and legal action.
