The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released Advertisement No. 09 of 2026-27 (Notice No. 4696/PSC, dated 20.08.2026) inviting online applications for 172 posts of Assistant Public Prosecutor in Group-B of the Odisha State Prosecution Service under the Home Department, Government of Odisha. The OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Recruitment 2026 online application link will be active from 28 August 2026 to 28 September 2026 (5:00 P.M.). Educational Qualification
Candidates must meet the following OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Qualification requirements, assessed as per the notification dated 20.08.2026:

OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Age Limit
The OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Age Limit is calculated as on 1st January 2026:
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 42 years
- Candidates must be born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2005
- Age relaxation of 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST, Women and Ex-Servicemen candidates
- Age relaxation of 10 years for Persons with Disabilities whose permanent disability is 40% or more
- Cumulative age relaxation of 15 years for Persons with Disabilities belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories
- A candidate covered under more than one relaxation category is eligible for only one benefit - whichever is most beneficial
- Date of birth entered in the High School Certificate (or equivalent) issued by the concerned Board/Council will only be accepted
OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Salary
Selected candidates for the OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor post will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 44,900/- in Level 10 of the Pay Matrix under ORSP Rules, 2017, along with usual Dearness Allowance and other Allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time. The notification states that all persons appointed under the Government of Odisha on or after 1st January 2005 are covered by the Contributory Pension Scheme under the Odisha Civil Services (Pension) Amendment Rules, 2005, and are not eligible for pension under the earlier Odisha Civil Service (Pension) Rules, 1992.
OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Application Fee
As per the Odisha Payment of Recruitment Examination Fees and Refund Rules, 2025, the OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Application Fee structure is as follows:

The examination fee paid will be refunded only to candidates who actually appear in the Preliminary Examination; refunds will be processed after completion of the Preliminary Examination to the original mode of payment (Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI, Wallet, etc.). Candidates must also furnish bank account details (Account Number, IFSC Code, Account Holder Name, Bank Branch Name) in the online form, to be used only if the original-mode refund fails due to technical issues. Applications without payment of the examination fee (except SC/ST/PwD candidates) will be treated as incomplete and outrightly rejected.
OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Selection Process
Selection to the post of Assistant Public Prosecutor is made through a competitive examination conducted in three stages:

Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination is only a screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination and its marks are not counted in the final merit list. It comprises one paper of 100 Objective Type (MCQ) questions carrying 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and 25% of the marks secured for a correct answer is deducted for each wrong response (negative marking); unattempted questions carry zero marks. Candidates securing the Commission-decided qualifying marks will be admitted to the Main Examination, in a ratio of up to 10 times the number of vacancies per category.
Main (Written) Examination
The Main Written Examination consists of 4 papers of 150 marks each (600 marks total), all Subjective and Descriptive Answer type:

Candidates securing qualifying marks in the Main Written Examination will be shortlisted in a ratio of 1:2 (subject to a minimum of 5, with reference to category-wise vacancies) for the Personality Test/Interview, which carries 50 marks. The final Merit List (Select List) is prepared based on the combined marks of the Written Examination and Interview (650 marks total). In case of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in the Written Examination is placed higher; if the tie persists, the older candidate (by date of birth) is placed higher.

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions can apply for OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Apply Online through the following steps:
- Visit the official OPSC website at https://www.opsc.gov.in and carefully go through the detailed Advertisement No. 09 of 2026-27.
- Register/log in and fill up the online Proforma Application, ensuring all information entered is accurate before submission.
- Upload scanned copies of the required documents/certificates listed under Para-12 of the advertisement, along with a recent passport-size photograph (unsigned and unattested, within six months), full signature, and Left-Hand Thumb Impression (LTI).
- Pay the applicable examination fee (Rs. 700/- for candidates other than SC/ST/PwD) through the online payment mode.
- Submit the online Registration to receive a unique Permanent Public Service Account Number (PPSAN).
- Take a printout of the finally submitted online Registration/Re-registration and Application form, sign the declaration, and retain it along with copies of certificates/documents for submission as and when asked, including at document verification.
Applications received through any mode other than the OPSC online portal will not be accepted and will be summarily rejected.
OPSC Assistant Public Prosecutor Important Instructions
- The venue of both the Preliminary and Main Examination will be Kataka (Cuttack); detailed venue information will be intimated in due course.
- Government servants (temporary or permanent) applying must inform their Head of Office in writing and furnish a "No Objection Certificate" during document verification; they are advised to obtain the NOC well in advance.
- SEBC certificates must be issued on or after 29.08.2023 to be considered valid; those issued earlier will not be accepted.
- Women candidates belonging to SC/ST/SEBC must submit caste certificates showing "daughter of ___"; certificates by virtue of marriage ("wife of ___") are not acceptable.
- OBC certificates will not be accepted in lieu of an SEBC certificate.
- Every candidate selected for appointment shall be examined by the Medical Board; failure to satisfy the medical requirement will result in non-appointment.
- Candidates found guilty of malpractice, seeking illegal support, or submitting forged/manipulated documents will be disqualified and may be debarred permanently or for a specified period from any OPSC recruitment; candidates adopting unfair means in the Written Examination will be permanently debarred.
- Applications that are incomplete in any respect, including non-uploading of required documents, are liable for rejection without any correspondence.
- Mere empanelment in the select list does not confer any right to appointment unless the Government is satisfied, after due enquiry, that the candidate is suitable in all respects.
- Submission of an NPS application is mandatory for all recommended candidates at the time of joining Government service.
- Any complaint regarding conduct of the examination must be sent to the Grievance Wing of the Commission by email ([email protected]) within 7 (seven) days of completion of the examination.
