Selection Process
Selection will be based on Written Examination followed by Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Swimming (wherever applicable) and Medical Fitness.
- Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be called for the Written Examination.
- Shortlisted candidates will also undergo Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Swimming as the case may be.
- Final selection is subject to Document Verification and Medical Fitness.
- Travelling Allowance (TA) / Dearness Allowance (DA) will not be paid for Written Exam / PET (Swimming) / Document Verification.
- The appearance of the candidate in the examination must match the photograph pasted in the application form.
How to Apply
Application Mode: Only Offline (Prescribed Application Form by Post)
Steps to Apply:
- Fill the prescribed Application Form (attached with the notification) carefully in BLOCK LETTERS.
- Paste a recent passport size photograph (self-attested) and sign across it.
- Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents (Xth certificate, experience certificates, category certificate, Aadhaar, etc.).
- Put the application in an envelope (28 cm × 13 cm) super-scribed in bold letters: “APPLICATION FOR MARINE WING POST – CUSTOMS (PREVENTIVE) COMMISSIONERATE, CHENNAI” and also indicate POST APPLIED FOR and CATEGORY at the left side corner.
- Send by Ordinary Post / Speed Post only to: THE ADDITIONAL COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (GENERAL) OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (GENERAL) 2ND FLOOR, KRISHNA BLOCK, RAJAJI SALAI, CHENNAI-600001 EMAIL ID – [email protected]
- Separate application should be submitted for each post.
- No Application Fee is required.
- Applications sent by Courier / In-person / Registered Post will not be accepted.
Note: Serving Government candidates must apply through proper channel with “No Objection Certificate” from their department.
General Instructions
- Age limit shall be counted as on the closing date i.e. 30-04-2026.
- Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply.
- Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
- Incomplete / unsigned applications, applications without photograph or proper enclosures, or applications received after the due date will be summarily rejected.
- Candidates claiming SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM reservation or age relaxation must submit valid certificates in the prescribed format at the time of document verification.
- The experience certificate must contain period with dates, name of post, nature of work, registered vessel name & registration no., and payroll / salary slips.
- Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in the jurisdiction of Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive), Chennai.
- The Department reserves the right to accept/reject any application, increase/decrease vacancies, or cancel the recruitment at any stage without assigning any reason.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending any stage of the recruitment.
- Mere submission of application does not confer any right to be called for the written test.
- Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts / Tribunals in Chennai.
