The Population Research Centre (PRC), Pune, funded by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi, has two contractual Research Assistant posts open at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE): one Research Assistant – I (Unreserved) on consolidated pay of Rs. 28,000 per month and one Research Assistant - II (OBC) on Rs. 25,000 per month. Who Can Apply

Both posts require the same educational qualification; the experience differs. The age limit for both posts is below 35 years as on the date of advertisement. The notice adds that there is no age limit for internal candidates already in the services at this Institute.

Accepted subjects for the Post Graduate degree, from a recognized Institution / University: Demography / Population Studies / Statistics / Biostatistics / Economics / Mathematics / Sociology / Social work / Psychology / Anthropology / Geography / Public Health.

• Candidates having a degree from a foreign university must produce an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian University (AIU) while applying.
• Candidates already in service must apply through proper channel with a no objection certificate from the current employer.

Pay and Tenure

Research Assistant – I receives consolidated pay of Rs. 28,000/- per month and Research Assistant - II Rs. 25,000/- per month. Hiring is purely on a contractual basis, and the contract is renewed at least every year based on the performance of the Research Assistant. PRC has no liability for regularizing the service rendered or offering regular appointment in the PRC. No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview or for joining the post.

2. Pay the online application fee of Rs. 236/-.
3. Attach self-attested copies of degree or diploma certificates and other certificates supporting educational qualification and experience, and the S.S.C. or equivalent certificate for date of birth.
4. For the OBC position, include the Caste Certificate and a valid OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate as per Government of India format.
5. If already in service, apply through proper channel with a no objection certificate from the current employer.
6. Submit the application online by 6 December 2026, 6.00 p.m.

Original certificates should not be sent with the application; they are to be produced at the time of interview. Any change of address given in the application form should be communicated to the Registrar, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, 846, Shivajinagar, Pune – 411 004.

Selection and Interview

The Institute may short-list candidates for interview, as necessary. A Screening Committee appointed for the purpose short-lists candidates from the applications received, and its decision is final and binding. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The call letter is sent only to short-listed candidates, to their email only. No correspondence is entertained from applicants who are not short-listed. The notice does not give an interview date.
