Nationality
The candidate must be a citizen of India, or must hold the nationality prescribed under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
Age Limit (as on 3 August 2026)
The standard age limit is 18 to 35 years. Upper age relaxation is available for Divyang candidates as follows:

Candidates already in Gujarat Government service may also get upper age relaxation as per the 1967 Recruitment Rules. Age relaxation for Divyang candidates is subject to a medical certificate from the Superintendent/Civil Surgeon as prescribed under the Health and Family Welfare Department circular dated 15 December 2025.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess one of the following:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology (excluding Civil Engineering) from a university established/incorporated under a Central or State Act in India, or an institution recognized as a deemed university under the UGC Act, 1956; OR
- A Diploma in Engineering or Technology (excluding Civil Engineering) from the Technical Examination Board or a Government-recognized institution, along with about 2 years of practical experience as a technical worker (not as labour) in Government service, a Government undertaking, or an industry/company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013.
In addition, candidates must have:
- Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 (candidates without this certificate at the time of application may still apply, but must submit it before appointment).
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.

GSSSB Junior Industrial Inspector Salary 2026
Selected candidates will be appointed on a fixed pay of ₹40,800 per month for the first five years, as per the Finance Department resolutions (last revised 18 October 2023). After five years of satisfactory service, the candidate becomes eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission pay scale of ₹29,200 – ₹92,300 (Level-5), subject to the outcome of Supreme Court cases SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012.

Selection will be made through a single-stage Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) / OMR-based objective (MCQ) written examination, followed by document verification.

- Combined duration for Part A and Part B: 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Negative marking: 1/4th of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for every wrong answer.
- Qualifying standard: Candidates must score at least 40% in Part A AND at least 40% in Part B separately (independent qualifying standards); this minimum cannot be relaxed for any category.
- After the provisional result, roughly 2 times the number of vacancies (category/disability-group wise) will be called for document verification.
- The final selection list and waiting list will be prepared disability-group wise (A, B, C, D & E) based on merit.

Questions in Part A on the Constitution of India and Current Affairs, and all Part B technical questions, will be set in both Gujarati and English. Gujarati comprehension questions will be in Gujarati only, and English comprehension questions will be in English only.
Documents Required
Candidates must keep the original copies of the following certificates ready, as they will need to be produced during document verification (details of exact certificate formats are given in the notification):

- Non-Creamy Layer certificate for SEBC candidates (valid, obtained between 1 April 2024 and 3 August 2026) or the equivalent Annexure-A certificate for Central Government reservation
- EWS (Economically Weaker Section) certificate in the prescribed Annexure-KH / Parishisht-Ga format, obtained between 4 August 2023 and 3 August 2026, or an Income and Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26

Scribe (Lekhak) / Compensatory Time Facility for Divyang Candidates
As per the Government of India Office Memorandum dated 29 August 2018, eligible Benchmark Disability candidates who are unable to write or have difficulty writing can avail scribe/compensatory time facility, subject to conditions:
- Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour is admissible to eligible benchmark disability candidates with limited writing ability.
- Candidates with Blindness or Locomotor Disability (Both Arms affected) need only submit their disability certificate; a separate medical certificate of inability to write is not required.
- Candidates with other benchmark disabilities must additionally submit Appendix-I - a certificate of physical limitation to write, issued by the Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent.
