Karnataka Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit
Minimum age: 18 years. Maximum age (for direct/unreserved candidates): 33 years as on the last date of application. Age relaxation is available as per Karnataka Government norms. A one-time relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit is available for candidates who have been unjustly denied age relaxation as per Govt. Order No. GAD 262 SEN 2025 dated 29.01.2026.

Note: Ex-servicemen must have completed 5 years of service in Karnataka Police in the PC (Civil) cadre posts (P.C.R./D.A.R./K.S.R./P.I./A.R.B./K.S.I.W./Etc.) by the last date of application and must be currently serving in those posts. They must have completed the minimum service period and must not be under any departmental inquiry/chargesheet at the time of application. Ex-servicemen from Army are entitled to 3 years of additional age relaxation for the "Avara Sevaselliside Avadhi" (period of active service). Karnataka Police Constable Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
Selection will be through the following stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to proceed to the next. No marks are awarded for Physical Standard Test and Endurance Test - these are qualifying in nature only.
- Stage 1 – Written Examination (Offline-OMR type): Objective type written test of 100 questions / 100 marks / 1½ hours (90 minutes). Conducted at district exam centres across the state. Candidates must mandatorily download the admit card from the authority website and carry one original identity proof to the exam centre.
- Stage 2 – Physical Standard Test (PST) & Endurance Test (ET): Candidates who qualify the written exam at a ratio of 1:5 (per vacancy) will be called for PST and ET. Dates will be published on https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/ or https://ksp-recruitment.in/
- Stage 3 – Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify PST and ET will be called for medical examination. Only medically fit candidates will be eligible for final appointment.
- Stage 4 – Final Selection: Candidates who qualify all above stages will be shortlisted at a ratio of 1:2 per vacancy based on written exam marks. Final appointment is made based on merit after medical examination, as per Govt. Order dated 13.04.2026.

Candidates must score a minimum of 30 marks in the written examination as per recruitment (amendment) rules 2020 to be eligible as a competitive candidate.
Negative Marking: Each question has 4 options; only one correct answer must be marked. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks (1/4th) will be deducted. In OMR-based answers, if 5 or more options are filled or the answer/option is struck out after the final bell and within 5 minutes, 0.25 marks will be deducted for each such question.

Note: Candidates must qualify ALL events in the Endurance Test. Candidates who fail any event are disqualified from the ET. No marks are awarded for the ET; it is qualifying in nature only. Candidates are advised to practise at least one month before the ET date.
Medical Examination Standards (key disqualification criteria):
- Vision: Distant vision: 6/9 or 6/9 (best eye) and 6/12 (other eye) without glasses; Near vision: 0/6 and 0/8. Each eye must have full field of vision. Any condition such as squint, colour blindness, or any pathological condition of the eye is disqualifying.
- Hearing: Rinne's Test, Weber's Test, and Tests for Vertigo - any deficiency is disqualifying.
- Varicose Veins with flatfoot: Disqualifying
- Speech impediment: Disqualifying
- Musculoskeletal Deformities (disqualifying): Knock Knees, Flat Foot, Bow Legs, Cubitus Valgus, Cubitus Varus, or any other defect observed during examination
- Any physical or mental deficiency that may hinder the performance of police duties is disqualifying

Training after Recruitment: Candidates appointed through direct recruitment must undergo 9 months of basic foundational training at Police Training Schools (DIGI/IGPI). Candidates who fail to qualify in the prescribed examinations during training will be dismissed from service.
Probation Period: Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years and 6 months after appointment through direct recruitment.

Important Instructions for Karnataka Police Constable Recruitment 2026 Candidates
- Candidates applying online must verify all information carefully before final submission; take a printout of the application and retain the fee challan until completion of the recruitment process. No changes/modifications to the submitted application will be permitted thereafter.
- Only Online applications are accepted; no hard copies are to be sent to the authority.
- Candidates applying for both cadres must submit a separate application for each; apply only for one post per application.
- OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer are NOT entitled to reservation; they must apply under General Merit.
