NHM Chandigarh Medical Officer & Emergency Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details 

Eligibility Criteria

• MBBS Degree from a recognized university with one year compulsory rotatory internship.
• Registration with State Medical Council or Medical Council of India–New Delhi is mandatory.
• One House Job (six months) in any department or minimum six months of post-qualification work experience is essential for all advertised posts.
• For Medical Officer-STCS (NTEP): preferential qualifications include MD in Pulmonary Medicine/Internal Medicine/TB and Chest Disease/Community Medicine/Master in Public Health, one year experience in NTEP, and basic knowledge of computers and Nikshay.
• For Medical Officer-MCH: preferential experience in Gynae & Obs/Paediatrics Department of a recognized hospital.
• For all posts: CCC+ Course on Computer Concepts Plus for 120 hours is mentioned as preferential qualification.
• Existing Medical Officers working on contract basis under NHM, U.T. Chandigarh are eligible to apply.
• Age limit for all posts is up to 60 years.
• Claims for SC/OBC categories will be considered only with valid caste certificate issued by competent authority in prescribed format and caste falling under OBC category of State List, U.T. Chandigarh as per notified lists.

Salary/Stipend

• All advertised posts carry a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 72,072/-.
• The posts are purely contractual, initially up to 31.03.2027, but extendable depending upon performance, conduct and project duration.

Age Limit (as on 15-01-2026)

• Age limit for all advertised Medical Officer and Emergency Medical Officer posts is up to 60 years.
• No separate lower age limit is mentioned in the notification; candidates must ensure they fall within the prescribed upper age limit.

Selection Process

• Selection will be through a walk-in interview to be held on 15/01/2026 at the Office of Mission Director, NHM, GMSH-16, Chandigarh.
• Registration for walk-in will be done strictly between 9.30 AM and 10.30 AM, followed by interview; candidates reporting after 10.30 AM will not be registered.
• Desirous candidates must bring bio-data on the prescribed application format along with self-attested copies of all certificates/testimonials (from Matriculation onwards) and one recent passport-size photograph attested by a Gazetted Officer.
• Candidates must also bring original certificates for verification at the time of interview.
• The Mission Director, NHM reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts or even cancel the walk-in interview without assigning any reason.
• The backlog posts of SC/OBC categories have been advertised multiple times; if no reserved category candidate appears again, these posts may be filled from General Category on a conditional basis up to 31.03.2027.

General Information/Instructions

• Desirous candidates from General/SC/OBC categories who fulfill eligibility criteria as per advertisement can apply.
• Claims for SC/OBC (not BC) category will be considered only if accompanied by caste certificate issued by competent authority in prescribed format as per notifications of Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration.
• Posts are purely contractual under NHM and PM-ABHIM, initially up to 31.03.2027, extendable based on performance, conduct and project duration.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• The Mission Director, NHM reserves full right to increase or decrease the number of posts, or reject/cancel the walk-in interview without assigning any reason.
