Admission to Classes 6 and 9 is strictly based on merit through the AISSEE, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in January each year. Students first register online, pay the application fee, and appear for the entrance test. The exam evaluates applicants in Mathematics, General Knowledge, English, Science (Class 9), Social Studies (Class 9), and Intelligence. Successful candidates then qualify for a medical examination, which checks physical fitness, eyesight, hearing, height, and weight, before the final selection list is published.

9th Class:
- Age: 13 to 15 years as of March 31, 2026 (born between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2013)
- Academic qualification: Studying in Class 8 at a recognized school
- Gender: Mostly boys; select schools may admit girls under pilot schemes
- Nationality: Indian citizens only
