CSIR-NEERI Project Associate-II Vacancy Details 2026

The notice states that the anticipated vacancy may be 2, depending on the availability of funds, and that the second candidate will be selected from the waiting list.

The higher rate of Rs. 35,000 plus HRA applies to candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET lectureship / Assistant professorship or GATE, or national-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent and/or their Agencies/Institutions. All others get Rs. 28,000 plus HRA. HRA is admissible as per applicable rules, but project staff must arrange their own accommodation.

Essential Qualification

Any one of the following:

• B.E./ B. Tech in Civil / Computer Science/ Environmental Engineering from a recognized University AND 2 years' experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
• M.Sc. in Environmental Science/ Botany from a recognized University AND 2 years' experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organizations and Scientific activities and services.
• M.E./ M. Tech in Civil/ Environmental Engg/ Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized University.

Job Requirement

• Web design and GIS map hosting services
• Floral (Vascular, Invasive, Medicinal etc) study

Conditions on Qualification and Experience

• Only candidates whose result for the essential qualification has been declared (at least a provisional certificate) are eligible.
• Result-awaited, final-semester-appeared or Ph.D-submitted candidates are not eligible where the minimum essential qualification is mandatory, and final-semester and result-awaited candidates may not appear for the interview.
• Experience is counted from the date after acquiring the minimum educational qualification. Dissertation or thesis work done during the academic period does not count.
• Time spent acquiring a higher qualification is not counted as experience over the essential qualification.

Selection Process

Selection will be done on the basis of a walk-in interview at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. Meeting the minimum qualification does not by itself entitle a candidate to an interview. If a large number of applications is received, preference will be given to candidates under the criteria adopted by the Screening Committee. The notice's general conditions also say that shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview, with the information uploaded on the website/portal. No TA will be paid for attending the interview in the case of offline interviews.

Service Conditions

• Place of posting: CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur.
• The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project, and it gives no right to regularization against any CSIR/CSIR-NEERI post.
• Total tenure as project staff in CSIR-NEERI or other CSIR laboratories cannot exceed six or seven years, as per clause 1.6/1.7 of CSIR OM No. 5-1(342)/2017-PD dated 02.09.2024. In the application form, candidates must declare that they have not completed the maximum tenure of 6 years.
• The offer letter will first be issued for the period for which funds are available. A review committee will assess performance and may recommend extension, subject to funds.
• The engagement may be extended or curtailed depending on the project duration, the level of performance or the conduct of the incumbent.
• Either side may end the engagement with one month's notice. A candidate who leaves may instead pay one month's remuneration.
• Selected candidates must sign a confidentiality undertaking covering project findings and intellectual property.
• Joining follows pre-appointment formalities such as medical examination and character verification. No upgradation is allowed in the same or a new project.
• CSIR-NEERI may cancel the offer if any discrepancy is found in a candidate's details at any stage.
