Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should have qualification, experience and expertise in cinematography / videography / news gathering / broadcast journalism.
- Academic qualifications must be furnished with proof in duplicate as per the application form enclosed in the notification.
- Technical qualifications may include degree/diploma/certificates in cinematography, videography, journalism, broadcast journalism or related fields as detailed in the application form.
- Experience as cameraperson/news cameraperson/videographer and as newsman/electronic journalist etc. has to be provided with organizational details and period of work.
- Applicants must submit documentary evidence/certificates to support the quality of work, including details of visual assignments, specialization areas and other relevant credentials.
- Applicants should have adequate facilities and equipment including cameras, audio equipment, lights and preferably ENG equipment as specified in the application form and guidelines.
Salary/Stipend
- Stringers will be paid Rs. 1,500/- per local coverage of duration less than 6 hours, inclusive of transportation and delivery charges.
- If the duration of local coverage exceeds 6 hours or involves locations apart by more than 10 kms, it will be treated as two coverages and the second coverage will be paid at Rs. 1,000/-.
- For outstation coverage undertaken beyond the geographical limits of the District headquarters where the Stringer is empanelled, the Stringer’s fee will be Rs. 1,800/- per coverage, inclusive of transportation and delivery charges.
- Payments are on per coverage basis irrespective of length of footage or its usage.
Age Limit

- Applications must be supported with a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,180/- (inclusive of GST) towards non refundable processing fee.
- The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “DDO/ DDK, Vijayawada” payable at Vijayawada.

Selection Process
- Applications will be scrutinised and eligibility of candidates will be assessed based on qualification, experience, equipment, technical facilities, credibility etc. as per the Assessment Scale in the guidelines.
- Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide test coverages using their own equipment and raw material to ascertain the quality of their work.
- Applicants will have to undergo interview and verification of equipment and documents, including physical verification of equipment by the Empanelment Committee or Technical Committee.
- A test coverage assignment will be given to all applicants for submission to RNU before their interview date; submission on time is essential for being called for interview.
- The final panel of Stringers will be drawn by the Committee based on assessment scale, interview and quality of test coverages, and names of selected Stringers will be published and informed in writing.
- Stringers will be removed from the panel for reasons such as refusal to cover assignments, poor content or technical quality, delay in coverage, subcontracting work, cartel operations, incorrect information or any act causing embarrassment to Prasar Bharati.
General Information/Instructions
- The Regional News Unit, Doordarshan Kendra, Vijayawada invites applications for Empanelment as Stringers from individuals with experience in news coverages for districts of Andhra Pradesh listed in the notification.
- Applicants should mention in the application form the name of the district where they wish to be empanelled and must be based in that district.
- The key person for operation of stringership must be clearly mentioned and he/she must be working in the applied district and must continue to be in the same district once selected.
- Empanelled Stringers are expected to cover news and short features on news, current affairs, sports, business and other subjects and also alert RNU on major news or breaking stories.
- Applications should be submitted in sealed cover with superscription “Empanelment of Stringers of DD News-2026” on or before the last date of submission.
- Proof in duplicate of Academic and Technical Qualifications, Experience and Equipment ownership must be submitted along with the application in the model form provided in the notification.
- Separate annexures can be given along with the application detailing experience or qualification of the applicant and team, if required.

- The panel of Stringers shall be revised every two years and existing Stringers will also go through the processes as per revised guidelines.

- Download and fill the prescribed Application Form for Empanelment as Stringer in Doordarshan (Annexure-A) as given in the notification.
- Provide details such as district headquarters for empanelment, personal particulars, academic qualifications, technical qualifications, experience, equipment and facilities, and corporate status as required in the form.
- Enclose attested copies of certificates supporting qualifications, experience, equipment ownership and other information furnished in the application.
- Attach a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,180/- (inclusive of GST) towards non refundable processing fee in favour of “DDO/ DDK, Vijayawada” payable at Vijayawada.
- Submit the completed application in triplicate in a sealed cover with superscription “Empanelment of Stringers of DD News-2026”.
