Residential Eligibility (Delhi Residents Only)

• Only children whose parents/guardians are permanent residents of Delhi can apply. Out-of-Delhi candidates are not eligible. You must submit valid residence proof, such as a ration card, voter ID, Aadhaar card with a Delhi address, electricity bill, or any other document accepted by DoE.

Age Limit for Nursery, KG, Class 1 (as on 31 March 2026)

Class-wise Admission Availability (Higher Classes)

The DoE follows a clear layered priority system for fairness:

• Priority A: Children living within 1 km of the Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, OR children living within 3 km who have no other Sarvodaya Vidyalaya within 1 km of their home.

• Priority B: Children living within 3 km of the school (but not covered under Priority A).

• Priority C: Children living beyond 3 km, the school will take an undertaking from parents about the safe transportation of the child.

The actual number of seats for each entry class is displayed at the school gate/notice board on 2 March 2026 itself. Delhi Government schools typically have a maximum of around 40 students per section in pre-primary and primary classes.

Lottery / Draw of Lots

When applications exceed seats in any class or priority category, a transparent lottery is conducted on 20 March 2026 in the presence of School Management Committee members and parents. Separate timings are followed for morning/general shift (11 AM) and evening shift (3 PM) schools.

Admission Confirmation and Waiting List

The first list of selected children is displayed on 23 March 2026. Selected parents must complete document verification and admission formalities between 24 March and 2 April 2026. If seats remain vacant after this, children from the waiting list are admitted in the order of the draw from 4 to 7 April 2026.
