Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification (Both Posts): LLB from a recognised institute/university
- Experience - Senior Legal Consultant: Minimum 15 years’ experience in legal policy / legal practice
- Experience - Legal Consultant: Minimum 10 years’ experience in legal policy / legal practice
- Desirable (Both Posts): Prior experience of working with the Government; Drafting of MoUs, RFPs, NDAs, Contracts, Appeals, Counter Affidavits, Rejoinder and other Legal Instruments; Experience of Legislative Drafting
Salary/ Stipend
- Senior Legal Consultant: Rs. 3 Lakh per month (Consolidated)
- Legal Consultant: Rs. 2 Lakh per month (Consolidated)
Age Limit (as on closing date of advertisement)
- Senior Legal Consultant: Should not exceed 63 years
- Legal Consultant: Should not exceed 55 years

Selection Process
- Applications will be screened on the basis of eligibility criteria
- Applicants may be shortlisted for interaction on the basis of a qualitative assessment of their overall profile
- Selection of candidates for engagement as consultants will be made by DoT in its discretion
General Information / Instructions
- The engagement is on contractual basis for an initial period of two years, extendable up to maximum aggregate term of five years (with possible further extension under exceptional circumstances, but no extension beyond age of 65 years)
- Continuation is subject to satisfactory performance based on annual reviews against key performance indicators
- Whole-time engagement: Consultants shall not render services to or take up employment with any other person during the term
- Location: Primarily Sanchar Bhawan, 20 Ashoka Road, New Delhi-110001 (may be deputed to other locations occasionally)
- DoT reserves the right to engage all or some or none of the consultants, or to cancel/withdraw the process at any stage without assigning reasons
- Consultants will have no claim for permanent employment with DoT
- Consultants are subject to Official Secrets Act, 1923, confidentiality obligations, and other terms including prohibition on certain post-engagement assignments without approval
