Eligibility Criteria
ESIC Ludhiana Qualification
Educational and experience criteria follow the latest NMC (National Medical Commission) norms for all advertised posts. Specific conditions stated in the notification include:
- For the Tutor post, only candidates holding an MD in the concerned subject are eligible.
- Candidates with MD/MS in a broad specialty will be considered for the Senior Resident post in a superspeciality department.
- Candidates with MD/MS in Emergency Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgery or Anaesthesia - or with 2 years of post-MBBS experience in any of these branches, including 1 year of experience in emergency medicine - are eligible to apply for the Senior Resident post in Emergency.
- Candidates with MD/MS in Emergency Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgery or Anaesthesia with relevant experience are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine.
- If no suitable MD/MS candidate is available, an MBBS candidate with 2 years of experience in the relevant branch will be considered for Senior Resident.
- Eligibility for qualifying degree/experience is assessed as on the last date of application submission.

For Senior Resident posts, Rs. 1,350/- is deducted if the candidate holds only a diploma, and Rs. 2,250/- is deducted if the candidate does not hold a degree or diploma. Retired employees/pensioners engaged under this recruitment may draw their total pay without deduction, as this is not treated as re-employment under the Central Civil Services (Fixation of Pay of Re-employed Pensioners) Orders, 1986, and they can continue to draw pension and dearness relief during the contractual period.
ESIC Ludhiana Terms of Contract
- Tenure is initially for one year, extendable up to three years (renewed yearly based on satisfactory performance), or until the candidate attains 70 years of age, or until a regular incumbent joins - whichever is earliest.
- The engagement may be terminated by either side with one month's prior notice, without assigning reason. If a candidate resigns without notice, one month's salary must be deposited to the ESI Account through challan.
- Candidates must deposit a security amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- (by demand draft) at the time of joining, forfeited if they resign within six months. Candidates appointed for a 44-day tenure must deposit Rs. 50,000/- as security, forfeited if they resign during that 44-day period.
- Faculty are entitled to 2.5 leaves per month.
- No service benefits such as PF, pension, gratuity, medical allowance, medical benefits, or seniority-based promotion are admissible.
- Being a contractual appointment, absence from work beyond 7 days without proper permission will be treated as voluntary abandonment and lead to automatic termination. Attendance must be marked manually as well as through the Aadhaar Enabled Bio-metric Attendance System (AEBAS) on scheduled working days.
- No private practice is allowed in any capacity after joining ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana.

- Selection is based on the candidate's academic credentials and performance in an interview before the Selection Board.
