Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Regional Office, Chennai - Empanelment of Advocates Notification 2026 has been released on 25.08.2026. A total of 124 vacancies have been announced for the Empanelment of Advocates for ESIC in Tamil Nadu Region.

Practicing advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of India/State Bar Council who meet the prescribed experience criteria in Annexure-A are eligible to apply for these advocate empanelment positions. The offline application process is to be completed using Annexure-B for fresh applicants or Annexure-C for existing panel counsels. Eligible candidates can submit their applications by post or in person, and the last date to apply is 08.09.2026.

Advocates already on the existing ESIC panel at the Regional Office, Chennai, and the Sub Regional Offices at Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Tirunelveli are also required to apply afresh, as the current panel ceases to exist once the new panel is constituted under this notice.

ESIC Tamil Nadu Advocate Recruitment 2026 Important Dates

ESIC Tamil Nadu Advocate Recruitment Court-wise Proposed Empanelment

ESIC has indicated the tentative number of advocates proposed to be empanelled for each court/judicial forum in Tamil Nadu. The notice clarifies that mere application for a particular location does not confer any right to empanelment at that location, and ESIC's decision in this regard is final and binding.

Note: The above numbers are tentative, as stated in the official notice. Empanelment does not confer any right on the advocate to claim allotment of case or legal work from ESIC.

ESIC Tamil Nadu Advocate Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria prescribed under Annexure-A of the notice are as follows:

• The advocate must hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognized University in India.
• The advocate must be enrolled/registered with the Bar Council of India / State Bar Council and must be in active practice at the Bar.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience is required for empanelment before the Hon'ble High Courts in Tamil Nadu and the Hon'ble CAT, Chennai Bench.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience is required for empanelment before district-level courts and other forums.
• Applicants should have regular practice and standing at the Bar, and preferably experience handling labour-law-related cases, supported by necessary documents/judgments.
• Applicants must be well versed in the Code on Social Security, 2020 (which subsumes the erstwhile ESI Act, 1948), labour law, and Civil and Criminal procedure, along with other relevant Acts and Codes.
• Applicants should have a sound professional reputation, good communication skills, and adequate office infrastructure (chamber, staff, communication facilities) at the city/town where the court is located.
• Advocates are required to have an office at the place where empanelment is sought.

The Competent Authority may relax the experience criteria or prescribe additional qualifications or conditions as deemed fit.

Disqualification Criteria

As per the notice, an advocate may be treated as ineligible for empanelment if:

• A disciplinary proceeding is pending, or an adverse order has been passed by the Bar Council affecting professional conduct.
• A criminal case involving moral turpitude is pending, or a conviction has been recorded.
• The advocate has suppressed material facts or submitted false information.
• There is an actual or potential conflict of interest with ESIC.
• The advocate's past performance with ESIC is found unsatisfactory.

ESIC Tamil Nadu Advocate Recruitment Documents Required

Applicants are ordinarily required to submit the following documents along with the application:

• Copy of the Law Degree and other educational qualifications
• Copy of the valid enrolment/registration certificate issued by the Bar Council
• Copy of the identity card issued by the Bar Association
• Copy of Government ID proof and PAN
• Resume/CV, including professional experience, areas of practice, and important cases handled
• Copies of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the last two financial years
• Two recent passport-size photographs
• Copies of judgments, if any, in labour-law-related cases where the advocate has appeared
• Undertaking and declaration regarding conflict of interest

ESIC Tamil Nadu Advocate Recruitment Selection Process

The selection process, as described in the notice, involves the following stages:

• Submission of duly filled application (Annexure-B for fresh applicants, Annexure-C for existing panel counsels) with supporting documents.
• Shortlisting of applications by the Competent Authority based on criteria decided by ESIC.
• Shortlisted advocates may be called for an interaction/interview before finalization of empanelment. No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interaction.
• The date, time, venue, and mode of interaction will be communicated by registered post with acknowledgment due and/or e-mail; SMS may be used as an additional mode in exceptional circumstances.
• Applicant advocates may be required to bring original documents at the time of interaction.
• Final selection and empanelment communication will be issued separately by ESIC.

Mere fulfilment of the eligibility criteria does not confer any right on an applicant to be called for interaction or to be selected. The decision of ESIC regarding shortlisting and selection is final. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
