Eligibility Criteria
- Engagement of Expert / Specialist (Project Head Yard Expansion) on contract basis at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, a Schedule-A Mini Ratna Category-I Defence Shipyard under Ministry of Defence.
- Essential Educational Qualification: Full time Degree in Engineering [BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg)] or equivalent in the discipline of Mechanical / Naval Architecture.
- Desirable Educational Qualification: One year Post Graduate Diploma in Naval Construction / Master of Engineering (as per Note 1 of the notification).
- Essential Experience (as on 01.01.2026): Minimum 26 years of relevant post-qualification experience either singularly or collectively in Ship building / Ship design / Ship repair / overseeing construction or repair or operation of Ships or Submarines, etc. Candidates should have experience in a senior management role of steering infrastructure projects.
- Desirable Experience: Experience in steering execution and implementation of shipyard modernization projects.
- Only specified engineering disciplines within Mechanical and Naval Architecture groups will be considered as per the detailed note on educational qualifications.
Salary/Stipend
- The post of Expert / Specialist (Project Head Yard Expansion) carries a consolidated remuneration on a negotiable basis as indicated in the notification.
- The engagement is on Fixed Term Contract for 2 years; tenure may be extended further depending upon company requirement and performance and conduct of the engaged Expert / Specialist at the discretion of Management.
- The Expert has to be available at GRSE for a minimum of 12 working days in a month (excluding Sundays / Holidays) and the rest of the days by offsite support through VC / email / telephone as feasible.
Age Limit
- Maximum age limit for Expert / Specialist (Project Head Yard Expansion): 65 years.
- The maximum age limit may be relaxed up to 69 years in case of deserving candidates at the discretion of the Management.
Application Fee
- Application fee: Rs. 590/- to be remitted through online mode (Payment Gateway) by applicants.
- Applicants belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are exempted from payment of application fee.
- The application fee is non-refundable; candidates are advised to ensure their eligibility for the post before applying.
- No other mode of payment will be accepted apart from the prescribed online mode.

Selection Process
- The selection for the post of Expert / Specialist (Project Head Yard Expansion) will be through interview only.
- Interview will be conducted through VC / online mode; if outstation candidates are called for interview in physical mode, they will be paid both ways air fare to Kolkata on production of tickets/receipts for incoming journey.
- Final selection of candidates is subject to medical fitness by Company’s Medical Officer as per Company’s Rules.
- Selection process will be done as per prevalent rules and policies of the Company, and GRSE’s decision in all matters regarding eligibility, conduct of interview and selection will be final and binding.
General Information/Instructions
- Expert must be available at GRSE for a minimum of 12 working days in a month, with additional days as required; normal working hours of the company will be applicable.
- During the tenure of engagement in GRSE as Expert, the individual will not directly or indirectly professionally engage himself/herself with any other organization.
- Four years Engineering Degree [BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg)] only will be considered; specific groupings for Mechanical and Naval Architecture disciplines are listed, and courses with equivalence will not be considered.
- AICTE/UGC/Government of India recognized/approved degree courses only are acceptable; date of declaration of result / mark sheet is treated as date of acquiring qualification.
- Retired persons can also apply subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
- GRSE reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of posts, cancel any post or the whole process of engagement without assigning any reason.
- Option of Hindi medium shall be given in interview; candidates can be posted to any Unit/Project/location of the company.
- Furnishing false information or suppression of facts will render the candidate unfit for employment; candidature is liable to be cancelled at any stage if eligibility criteria are not met.
- For any dispute, jurisdiction shall be Kolkata.

- Serving candidates of Govt./Semi-Govt./PSUs/Autonomous Organizations must produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of interview.
- Candidature is liable to be cancelled if a candidate submits more than one application for the same post.
