Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualification: (i) MOT I Class Motor Certificate or Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate issued under Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
- Experience: (ii) One year post qualification experience as Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer on board a foreign going ship.
Salary/ Stipend
- Regular appointments will be on the payscale of Rs.70000-200000 on the pay pattern linked to Industrial DA and includes cafeteria allowance at 35% of basic pay with annual increment as per stipulated pay structure.
- At present pay levels, the remuneration works out approximately to Rs.1,51,000/- at the minimum of the scale besides admissible work related perks/allowances.
- Other service benefits include leave, medical aid for self and dependent family, advances for purchase of house, car etc. as per the Port Authority regulations from time to time.
- Residential quarters on license fee is admissible. If availed, HRA component will be deducted from remuneration.
- New contributory Pension Scheme shall apply.
Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026)
- Not over 40 years.
- In case of ST candidate, there is age relaxation of 5 years. As per Regulation 9 of MbPT Employees (RSP) Regulations, 2010, the age limit in case of existing employees of any Major Port is 55 years.

- Selection will be through a competitive written examination and/or personal interview.
General Information / Instructions
- In case of ST candidate, there is age relaxation of 5 years. As per Regulation 9 of MbPT Employees (RSP) Regulations, 2010, the age limit in case of existing employees of any Major Port is 55 years.
- The SC/ST candidates called for written test/interview are eligible for Travelling Allowance as admissible on production of original bus/train ticket.
- Selection will be through a competitive written examination and/or personal interview.
- Selected candidate will have to undergo medical examination at the Mumbai Port Authority hospital for fitness.
- Mere fulfilling the minimum prescribed qualifications will not vest any right upon the candidate for being called for written test/interview. Similarly, mere submission of application does not confer any right on the candidate for being called for written test/interview. No correspondence will be entertained in this respect and interim enquiry will not be attended to.
- Depending upon the response, the administration reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for the written test/interview.
- Wrong declarations/submission of false information or any other action contrary to the law shall lead to cancellation of the candidature at any stage.
- Applicants, if selected, will not be permitted to withdraw candidature at a later date.

- The application should be accompanied by the following: (a) Self-attested copies of certificates in support of age, educational qualifications and experience. (b) Self-attested copy of Caste Certificate (in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) and Caste Validity Certificate.
- Persons in service of Government/Semi-Government Organisations/Public Sector Undertaking/Autonomous Bodies must apply through proper channel along with vigilance clearance and certificate that no disciplinary case is pending or contemplated against them and No Objection Certificate for release in case of selection.
