OPTCL Apprentice Vacancy 2026

A total of 100 apprentice seats are on offer across four apprenticeship types and eleven disciplines. As stated in the notification, the number of vacancies against each trade/discipline may change (increase or decrease) as per the requirement of the corporation, and unfilled seats in a specific discipline may be filled from other disciplines within the same apprenticeship type (degree, diploma, or ITI).

OPTCL Apprentice Qualification

The prescribed qualification must be from a recognised Board/Council/University/Institute, completed as a regular full-time course. As noted in the notification, for Non-Engineering Apprentices, graduation in non-engineering disciplines such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, or BBA, or equivalent, shall be preferred.

OPTCL Apprentice Other Eligibility Conditions

• Only Indian nationals belonging to the state of Odisha are eligible to apply.
• Candidates must have the minimum physical standard prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, and amendments thereof.
• Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, or who have job experience of one year or more, are not eligible to apply.
• Candidates who are currently appearing for (i.e., have not yet passed) the requisite essential qualifying examination are not eligible to apply.
• Candidates must hold the passing certificate or final year marksheet of the required qualification as on 1 July 2026.
• The gap between the date of joining the Apprenticeship Training and the date of passing the essential qualifying examination must not be more than 3 years, and the qualifying examination must have been passed during Academic Year 2023–24, 2024–25, or 2025–26.
• Candidates must be registered on the NAPS/NATS portal, and their bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of the stipend.

OPTCL Apprentice Age Limit

The candidate should not be less than 18 years of age as on 1 August 2026. No maximum age limit is specified in the notification.

OPTCL Apprentice Stipend

As per the notification, OPTCL will pay 50% of the stipend to Degree Engineering Apprentices, Diploma Technician Apprentices, and Degree Non-Engineering Apprentices, with the remaining 50% paid by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (referred to as BOPT in the notification) through DBT. • The training period commences from the online contract date of the Apprenticeship Training and continues for one year.
• It is not obligatory for OPTCL to offer employment to any apprentice who has completed their apprenticeship, nor can an apprentice claim a right to employment on the ground of having completed the Apprenticeship Training.
