Eligibility Criteria
Casual News Editor (Tamil): Graduate of a recognised university. Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism with a duration of at least one year from a recognized university/institution or 5-year experience in reporting/editing work in Print/Electronic Media. Proficiency in Tamil language.
Casual News Reader cum Translator(Tamil): Graduate of a recognised university. Proficiency in Tamil Language.Having a voice of good quality suited to broadcasting.

Selection Process
Casual News Editor(Tamil)
The Selection procedure comprises of two stages: written test and an interview. Each test carries 100 marks. The written test will seek to assess the journalistic and professional capability as well as the knowledge of the candidate in concerned language. Candidates securing 50 marks and above in the written examination will be called for interview to assess the suitability of the candidate for radio news.
Casual News Reader cum Translator (Tamil)
The Selection procedure comprises of three stages: written test, voice test & an interview to assess the professional competence and knowledge of the candidate in concerned language. Each test carries 100 marks. The syllabus for the written test include translation from English to Tamil and vice versa, short notes on current affairs and general knowledge etc. All questions are to be answered in Tamil. Duration of test will be three hours. Candidates securing 50 marks and above in the written test will be called for voice test. In the voice test, the following are to be adjudged. 1. Voice Quality, 2. Modulation, 3. Diction, 4. Pronunciation, 5. Accent. Voice test may be followed by interview to assess the suitability of the candidate for the RNU Job.
How to Apply
- Applications should reach "The RNU Head, All India Radio, Indira Nagar, Gorimedu, Puducherry 605006 by post/hand on or before 15.11.2025. The envelope containing the application in the prescribed format should be super scribed with " Application for Casual News Editor(Tamil)/Casual News Reader cum Translator(Tamil) in RNU Puducherry”. Candidates applying for more than one post are required to submit separate applications along with separate processing fee.
- Applications received after the prescribed date and time will not be considered. For any late receipt or non-receipt of the applications, this division shall not be held responsible and no further correspondence in this regard shall be entertained. Candidates working in Govt./Autonomous bodies should obtain a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employers.
- The list of eligible candidates scrutinised from the applications received along with the time, date & venue etc. for the written examination will be put on the NSD AIR website: www.newsonair.gov.in. All the applicants are requested to check the website on regular basis after the closing date for the submission of the application. No call letter will be delivered to candidates for the written examination and audition/voice test.
