The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), South Central Railway, Secunderabad, has released GDCE Notification No. RRC/SCR/GDCE-02/2026, dated 17.09.2026, inviting online applications from eligible serving regular employees of the erstwhile South Central Railway (including BZA, GTL, GNT Divisions and RYPS, TPYS workshops, excluding RPF/RPSF employees) for filling up posts against the GDCE (General Departmental Competitive Examination) Quota.
In brief: RRC Secunderabad is conducting a General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) to fill 33 posts - Nursing Superintendent (14), Health & Malaria Inspector Gr. II (3), and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (CCTC) (16) - for eligible serving South Central Railway employees only; this is not open to external candidates. Within the total, 1 vacancy is identified suitable for Locomotor Disability (LD) PwBD candidates under Nursing Superintendent. Suitability for PwBD is as per RRB standards; the relevant disability certificate (as per Annexure-V A/B/C) must be uploaded while submitting the online application. The number of vacancies indicated is provisional and may reduce, increase, or even become NIL depending on the actual needs of the Railway Administration; the Railway Administration also reserves the right to cancel notified vacancies at its discretion.
SCR GDCE Notification 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply
- Only serving regular/permanent employees of erstwhile South Central Railway (drawing pay on a substantive basis, excluding MACP/Ad-hoc promotion, etc.), working in all Departments/Branches of Hd.Qrs./Divisions/Workshops/Units.
- Candidates working in a grade pay/level lower than the grade pay/level of the notified posts are eligible. Candidates already working at the same grade pay/level as the notified Non-Safety category posts are NOT eligible to appear under GDCE (online mode) - as per RBE No. 72/2017 dated 24.07.2017.
- Candidates cannot apply for the same post they are presently working on.
- Employees working in a 7th CPC Level lower than the Grade Pay/Scale for which GDCE is being conducted are eligible to appear.
- Candidates must remain on the rolls of the SCR Zone till completion of the selection process - if a candidate is transferred to another Zone at any point during selection, the candidature will be summarily rejected, with no claim entertained in this regard.
- RPF/RPSF personnel, Law Assistants, and Catering Supervisors are NOT eligible to apply against this GDCE scheme.
- Employees appearing in, or awaiting the result of, the final examination for the minimum qualification at the time of application are NOT eligible.

Educational qualification must be from a recognised Educational Institution/Board, and candidates must possess the requisite qualification on the closing date of application, endorsed in their Service Record.
Community Certificate
Candidates claiming SC/ST or OBC reservation must upload the prescribed Community Certificate (Annexure-I for SC/ST, Annexure-II for OBC) - failure to do so means the candidature will be considered under General (UR) only, subject to fulfilling UR eligibility conditions. OBC candidates must upload a valid Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate issued on or after 01.04.2026 but not later than the closing date of application, and must additionally submit a self-declaration (Annexure-IIA) at Document Verification confirming they do not belong to the creamy layer. OBCs present in the State list but not in the current central list are NOT eligible to claim reservation.

No age relaxation is allowed to SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying against unreserved vacancies. Proof of age must be submitted as a copy of the Birth Certificate, Class 10th (or equivalent) Certificate/Mark Sheet, or School Leaving Certificate clearly showing the date of birth.
SCR GDCE Notification 2026 Selection Process
Selection is through a Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination. There is no interview.
- Only a single application for all three categories of notified posts has to be submitted by the candidate through the official RRC website link.
- Question papers are Objective Multiple Choice Type, available in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, and Urdu.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum qualifying marks: UR – 40%, OBC – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25%. These percentages may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of a shortfall against reserved vacancies.
- In case of a tie in marks, the older candidate is ranked higher; if age is also equal, alphabetical order of name (a to z) is used to break the tie.
- Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for Document Verification based on CBT merit and post options exercised.
- Appointment is subject to passing the requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, and final verification of educational and community certificates and antecedents/character.
- Normalisation of marks (for multi-session CBT) follows the methodology notified by the Railway Recruitment Boards' Chairpersons on 09.02.2026.

PwBD Scribe Facility
Candidates with benchmark disabilities in the category of Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arm affected – BA), and Cerebral Palsy will be provided a scribe if desired. For other categories of benchmark disabilities, the scribe facility is allowed on production of a certificate confirming physical limitation to write, from the Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care institution, along with a letter of undertaking as per Annexure V(D) at the examination centre.
SCR GDCE Notification 2026 Document Verification
- After CBT results are declared, candidates equal to the number of notified vacancies will be called for Document Verification/Medical Examination; the e-Call letter will be available for download from the RRC website.
- At Document Verification, shortlisted candidates must produce original documents of Date of Birth, Educational Qualification, Caste Certificate, relieving letter, etc., along with one set of self-attested photocopies of all certificates, 2 recent passport-size photographs (self-attested on the back), and a valid photo ID - the Railway Identity Card issued by the candidate's Department in ORIGINAL is mandatory on the day of Document Verification.
- Certificates in languages other than English or Hindi must be accompanied by an attested translation in English/Hindi.

- Read all the instructions in the notification carefully to confirm your eligibility before filling the online application form.
- Ensure you have a valid personal e-mail ID and mobile number, active until completion of the selection process, for receiving information/alerts. Create a new e-mail ID/mobile number before applying if you do not already have one.
- Submit only a single online application covering all three notified post categories through the link provided on the official RRC website.
- Upload a scanned photograph (clear, colour, not older than three months, without cap/sunglasses) and scanned signature (in running hand, not capital letters).
- Upload the required documents: proof of age, educational qualification certificates, community certificate (if applicable), NOC (if applicable), disability certificate/scribe undertaking (if applicable, per relevant Annexure).
- Submit the application before the closing date, 17.10.2026 (23:59 Hrs). It is advised to apply well before the closing date to avoid failure due to heavy load/jam on the website.

SCR GDCE Notification 2026 Important Instructions
- Only eligible serving regular/permanent South Central Railway employees (excluding RPF/RPSF) may apply - this is an internal departmental recruitment, not open to the general public.
- Candidates should report for CBT/Document Verification with the relieving letter (e-Call letter) along with a valid Railway Photo ID card - the name, date of birth, and photo on the ID must match the details furnished in the online application, failing which the candidate may not be permitted to appear.
- Only applications sent through ONLINE mode are valid - offline/manual applications will be treated as invalid.
- Applications without a scanned photo/signature, incomplete applications, multiple applications by the same candidate, or applications without valid Community Certificate/proof of age/requisite educational qualification proof will be treated as invalid.
- There is no supplementary CBT for absentee candidates under any circumstances; requests for postponement of any activity or for change of venue, date, or shift will not be entertained.
- Selected candidates under GDCE will undergo the same duration of initial training as directly recruited employees through RRBs.
- There is no separate reservation of posts for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in this GDCE, as per Railway Board's letter No. E(NG)I-2018/PM1/23 dated 02.05.2019 (RBE-72/2019).
- Selected employees are liable to be posted anywhere on erstwhile South Central Railway; the decision of Railway Administration in this regard is final.
- Employees recommended for a particular category of post with a higher Medical classification will not be considered for any alternative post with a lower medical classification in the event of medical unfitness.
- In the event of any mis-statement/discrepancy in particulars, or if the employee has suppressed relevant information or does not satisfy eligibility criteria at any stage, the application/candidature will be cancelled, or services terminated, without notice.
- Candidates who have been debarred for life from all RRB/RRC examinations, or debarred for a period not yet completed, need not apply - such candidature will be rejected during any stage of recruitment as and when detected.
