Bokaro Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Limited is holding a walk-in interview on 12 November 2026. It is hiring 10 doctors on contract for Bokaro General Hospital: 3 Specialists and 7 General Duty Medical Officers (GDMO). Pay is a consolidated Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1,60,000 a month. Doctors up to 69 years of age can apply, and that includes retired doctors.

Other benefits

• Post-paid CUG SIM, covering monthly call charges, rental and taxes up to Rs. 350 a month for MBBS doctors and Rs. 500 a month for MBBS doctors with a PG Diploma or Degree in a speciality.
• Non-SAIL doctors can take company accommodation (2 BHK or equivalent) on payment if they want it, subject to availability. Rent, electricity and water are charged at the rates SAIL employees pay for that category of quarter.
• Former SAIL employees up to E-7 grade may keep their allotted company accommodation during the engagement, subject to availability, by paying the rent, electricity and water charges. Former employees above E-7 grade, or those holding designated or earmarked accommodation, can only be considered for the accommodation an E-7 executive gets.
• Medical benefits: former SAIL employees keep the medical benefits they already have as ex-employees. Other doctors get medical benefits for themselves and their spouse at the unit hospital only, and only if their previous organisation does not provide them. No referrals to outside hospitals are allowed.
• 10 days of leave a year, with prior approval. Maternity leave is given under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
• No HRA is paid.

SAIL Bokaro Specialist and GDMO Eligibility 2026

Age limit: 69 years as on the date of advertisement, 27 October 2026. Doctors who are engaged must be fit to perform their duties.

Registration (all posts): registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI), National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council (SMC), or holding a valid practitioner licence and enrolled in the State Register or National Register (as applicable). Candidates must be Indian nationals.

Preferred: relevant work experience. Qualification and experience are counted as on 27 October 2026.

Ex-employees: former employees of SAIL plants and units, other PSUs and Government can apply as long as they did not leave through voluntary retirement. They must give a self-certificate saying so.

Job Description

The doctors will work in different departments of Medical and Health Services (M&HS) as needed and do the work assigned to them. The minimum is 8 hours a day, six days a week, or 48 hours a week. Doctors who work fewer hours are paid on a pro-rata basis, and the monthly rate cannot go above the maximum for their category.

The engagement starts as soon as selection is complete and engagement orders are issued. All certificates are checked only at the walk-in interview, and candidates who cannot produce them will not be interviewed. BSL may engage fewer doctors than advertised, reject any application or cancel the whole process without giving a reason.

Service Conditions

• The first engagement is for one year or until the doctor turns 70, whichever comes first. The Company may extend it one year at a time, up to a maximum of 3 years under the same contract. Re-engagement is allowed, within the age limit.
• Performance is reviewed every year. Based on that review, the tenure may be cut short or extended.
• Either side can end the contract with one month's notice. The company can end it for poor performance, moral turpitude, conviction by a court, insolvency, loss of licence to practise, grave misconduct or financial irregularity, or long-term medical unfitness.
• The engagement is purely on a contractual basis and gives no right to regular appointment in BSL.
• Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts at Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand.

2. Fill every field in CAPITAL LETTERS. Paste a recent passport-size colour photograph and sign across it.
3. Go to the Office of the ED (M&HS), Bokaro General Hospital, Bokaro, Jharkhand-827004, on 12 November 2026. Registration runs from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
4. Hand in the filled form with your supporting documents at the walk-in interview. No other way of applying is accepted.

• Pass certificates and mark sheets for your educational qualifications
• Experience certificate from the employer showing relevant post-qualification experience, if any. Retired employees bring a service certificate from their parent organisation.

• Valid registration certificate from SMC/MCI/NMC
• Photo ID proof (Voter ID, PAN, Aadhar Card, Driving License or Passport)
