Vacancy Details

Eligibility Criteria

• Master (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. I
• First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. II
• Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Gr. I
• B.Sc. Nautical Science

Salary/ Stipend

• Master (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-I or equivalent certificate: In the scale of pay of Rs. 70,000/- - 2,00,000/- (along with Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Cafeteria Allowance, etc.)
• First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-II: Will start at Rs. 60,000/-
• 2nd Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade I: Will start at Rs. 50,000/-
• B.Sc. Nautical Science: Will start at Rs. 40,000/-

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)

• Not exceeding 25 years for B.Sc. Nautical Science
• Not exceeding 30 years for Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade-I
• Not exceeding 35 years for First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. II
• Not exceeding 40 years for Master (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. I certificate
• Upper age limit relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST candidates and by 03 years for OBC candidates
• The post is not suitable for PWD category

Important Dates

Selection Process

• Adjustment against regular post of Pilot is subject to passing of requisite examinations
• Each candidate shall be allowed a maximum of 3 attempts to pass each examination
• Failure to pass within the attempts will lead to termination of services

General Information / Instructions

• Trainee Pilots would be posted at Kolkata or at Haldia subject to administrative convenience
• Trainee Pilots posted at Haldia will be trained for Haldia Channel only
• Selected candidates will be required to execute a bond to serve SMP, Kolkata for at least 05 years after qualifying as Pilot, failing which they will have to pay an amount equivalent to last 06 months' salary together with the cost of training

• Application in the prescribed proforma furnishing detailed Bio-data including Name, Date of Birth, Permanent Address, Mobile and Residential Telephone numbers, Address for communication, Nationality, whether SC/ST/OBC/EWS (along with relevant verified certificates), Educational and Professional qualification, Experience and any other relevant information
• Two recent passport size photographs duly signed thereon
• Self-attested photocopies of caste, educational and professional qualification certificates, age proof certificate, CDC
• Submit in sealed envelope superscribed “Application for the post of Trainee Pilot at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust)”
