Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications
- Must not have completed 32 years of age if recruited direct (age limit relaxed as per special provisions)
- Must possess the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) from recognized school
- Must possess the certificate for having successfully completed the training course for Nursing Assistants in any of the Government Medical Institutions in the State
- Adequate knowledge of Tamil language (Tamil as a language in SSLC or all non-language subjects in SSLC in Tamil medium or Second Class Language Test in Tamil)
Essential Qualifications
- SSLC certificate from recognized school
- Certificate for successfully completing Nursing Assistant training course from Government Medical Institutions in Tamil Nadu
- The training course must be completed prior to the date of issue of G.O.(Ms).No.325, Health and Family Welfare Department, dated 20.11.2012 for special category candidates as per G.O.(Ms).No.77, dated 14.03.2024
Desirable
- Person who has rendered war service as Nursing Assistant if appointed shall pass the Departmental Examination for Nursing Assistant
- War service includes service in units liable for overseas service, service under military authorities, service in Armed Reserve Police, and other civil defense organizations
- War service recognition is for the period 1939-1946
Salary/Stipend
- Pay Scale: Rs. 15,700 – 58,100/- per month
- Pay Matrix Level: Level-1
- Selected candidates will be paid as per 7th Pay Commission
- Pay is subject to modifications as per government orders from time to time
- Allowances and benefits as applicable to Tamil Nadu Government servants
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years (should have completed)
- Maximum Age for OC (Open Category): 34 years
- Maximum Age for SC/ST/SCA/BC/BCM/MBC&DNC: No Maximum Age limit (should not have completed 60 years as on 01.07.2026)
- Maximum Age for Differently Abled Persons: 44 years (10 years relaxation over OC)
- Maximum Age for Destitute Widow: No Maximum Age limit (should not have completed 60 years)
- Note: Applicants not belonging to reserved categories who have put in 5 years or more of service in State/Central Government are not eligible to apply even if within age limit

Selection Process
- Selection will be made at the first instance for candidates who passed 10th std and possess Certificate for completing Nursing Assistant training in Government Medical Institutions prior to G.O.(Ms).No.325 dated 20.11.2012
- Age relaxation of maximum 14 years will be provided for this category as per G.O.(Ms).No.77 dated 14.03.2024 and amendment G.O.(D).No 1602 dated 18.12.2025
- For remaining vacancies, selection will be based on marks scored in academic and technical qualifications
- Weightage of Marks:
- SSLC/10th Certificate: 60%
- Certificate Course in Nursing Assistant: 40%
- There will be no oral test (Interview) for the post
- Selection will follow communal rotation and reservation rules of Tamil Nadu Government
- Certificate verification will be conducted for provisionally selected candidates
- Final appointment will be made by the Appointing Authority after selection by MRB
- If marks are not awarded but only certificate is issued, percentage of marks in SSLC/HSC will be taken for calculating weightage
General Information/Instructions
- 4% posts reserved for Differently Abled Persons with benchmark disabilities: Hard of Hearing (HH), Dwarfism (DF), Leprosy Cured (LC), Acid Attack Victims (AC) - all with mobility and good physique, Multiple Disability (MD) among the above
- 10% of women vacancies (out of 30% women reservation) reserved for Destitute Widows
- Reservation for Person Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) as per Tamil Nadu Appointment on Preferential Basis Act, 2020
- Reservation for Transgender candidates: Female transgender considered for women quota, Male/Transgender considered for general category
