Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: The applicant must possess medical qualification included in the National Medical Council Act, 2019. The applicant must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/NMC/MCI. Post graduate degree holders recognized by State Medical Council /NBE/NMC can also apply.
- Internship Completion: Only those candidates who have completed their internship on or before 31 Jul 2025 can apply.
Salary/ Stipend
- Doctors on commissioning in the Armed Forces Medical Services will be granted the rank of Captain (or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force) in level 10B of the Defence Pay Matrix of BP Rs. 61300 + MSP Rs. 15500 + HRA (if applicable) as per category of the city, (i.e X, Y, Z, where the officer is posted) + NPA at prevalent rates + Transport Allowance Rs. 3600-7200 as per the category of the city, (i.e X, Y, Z where the officer is posted) + Dress Allowance Rs. 20,000 (Annually) and Dearness Allowance as per prevalent rates. In addition, officers are entitled ration or ration allowance in lieu (as per location of Posting & Notification to that effect) subsidized accommodation and allied facilities. PG degree holders are eligible for PG allowance or specialist pay on being designated as Graded Specialist as per Training Rules applicable from time to time. In addition, officers are entitled to 60 days Annual Leave & 20 days Casual Leave in a year, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), free Medical Services for self & family including dependent parents, Group Insurance & Canteen Stores Depot (CSD) facility.
Age Limit (as on 31-12-2026)
- As on 31 Dec 2026, the candidate must not have attained the age of 30 years if holding an MBBS degree (only those born on or after 02 Jan 1997 are eligible) and 35 years if holding a PG degree (only those born on or after 02 Jan 1992 are eligible) respectively.
Application Fee
- A Fee of Rs. 200/- will be charged from applicants towards the application processing. The requisite amount is required to be paid at the end of the application submission through online payment (internet banking/Credit Card/Debit Card). No other mode of payment is acceptable.

Selection Process
- Shortlisting of Candidates for Interview: Applications complete in all respects will be further scrutinized/ filtered on the basis of NEET PG entrance examination marks/ percentile.
- Percentile of the candidates will be proportionately converted into "calculated NEET PG marks" to the tune of 200. For the purpose of obtaining a score out of 200, the percentile score will be treated as marks obtained by the candidate out of 100 and the percentile score will be multiplied by two and the result rounded off to the second decimal and a list will be prepared.
- In case of those candidates, whose results were declared in absolute score, the percentile score of the candidate will be calculated on the basis of his/her merit position in that exam and the same will be converted into "calculated NEET PG marks" to the tune of 200 as explained above.
- Candidates will be called up for interview in the order of the list (separate lists for male and female candidates) based upon calculated NEET PG marks to appear for viva-voce/ interview.
- Interview: Eligible candidates will be called for interview by a Board of Officers in the month of Mar 2026 at the ARMY Hospital (R&R), DELHI CANTT to assess their suitability and merit for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services.
- Candidates appearing for interview for the first time will be paid to and fro AC III/ AC Chair Car fare for journey performed by rail or Govt Non-AC Bus fare for journey performed by road from the normal place of residence to place of interview.
- In case a candidate is residing in the municipal limit of place of interview no traveling allowance is admissible.
General Information/ Instructions
- Online applications are invited for the post of Medical Officer (Short Service Commission) in the Armed Forces Medical Services from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS (Part-I & II) examination in not more than two attempts and have appeared in the NEET PG (anytime during the last two years i.e 2024 & 2025).
- Civilian doctors having a Post Graduate degree will not be required to appear in the NEET PG examination again. Marks obtained by them in NEET PG examination earlier will be taken into consideration.
- Civilian doctors having PG qualification must be in possession of the requisite PG degree/ Result/ Marksheet and shall produce the original documents for verification on or before the last date of interview, failing which their candidature shall be cancelled.
- Place of Interview: DELHI. Employability: Being a Medical Officer of the Armed Forces Medical Services, the candidate on grant of commission is liable to be posted as per service requirement in any part of the country or abroad, in the Army, Navy or Air Force.
- They may have to work independently in the unit allotted to them. Even candidates holding PG degree may be posted as General Duty Medical Officer based on Service requirements.
- Promotion for SSC Officer: An SSC officer is commissioned as Capt (or equivalent rank in Navy/ Air Force) on entry and is eligible for promotion to the rank of Major (or equivalent rank in Navy/ Air Force) after four years of service and Lt Col (or equivalent rank in Navy/Air Force) after a total service of eleven years, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
- A candidate who holds additional medical qualification of Post-Graduate Degree (MCI/NBE recognized) prior to joining service is eligible for ante date seniority after grant of commission, applicable as per existing rules.

- Following original documents are essentially required to be produced (along with two photocopies of each) for verification at the time of interview:- (i) Matriculation Certificate (Class X)/Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Corporation as a proof of name and date of birth (if in English)
