Age Limit

You must be at least 21 and no more than 45 years old. The terms and conditions count age "as on the closing date of application (23 December 2026)". However, the same notice gives 23 November 2026 as the last date to apply, and the application form (Annexure-I) asks for your age as on 30 November 2026. Check your age against all three dates.

Essential Qualification

You need a Master's degree from a recognised university in one of these subjects:

• Seed Science and Technology
• Genetics and Plant Breeding
• Plant Genetic Resources
• Any relevant discipline of plant sciences

Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, women and other eligible categories applies as per Government of India and ICAR guidelines.

Important Dates

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting: applicants are shortlisted on their educational qualifications, academic performance and relevant experience.
2. Interview: the interview is held offline at the Division of Seed Science and Technology, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi – 110012. Only shortlisted candidates will get an email with the date, time and venue.

The result will be posted on the ICAR-IARI website. The selected candidate will also be told by email and WhatsApp. The institute will not reply to individual questions about the results.

Service Conditions

• The post is purely temporary and on contract. It runs for one year at first.
• The contract may be extended if your performance is satisfactory, funds are available, the project continues and ICAR guidelines allow it.
• The post ends when the project ends. You cannot claim a regular appointment at the institute.
• The selected candidate must keep all project data, documents and information strictly confidential. They must also follow the confidentiality and other conditions set by ICAR-IARI and the funding agency.
• No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview or for joining.
• Hiding facts or canvassing in any form will disqualify you.
• Any dispute will be settled only in a New Delhi court.

1. Download the official notification and fill in the application form (Annexure-I). Paste a recent passport-size photo on it.
2. Fill in and sign the declaration about relatives employed in ICAR/IARI (Annexure-II). Every candidate must submit it, even if no relative works there.
3. In the form, list at least three references from your field of specialisation with their designation, phone number and email.
4. Combine the form, the declaration and your self-attested documents into a single PDF.
5. Email the PDF to [email protected] on or before 23 November 2026.
