JKSSB Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details

JKSSB has notified a total of 518 vacancies across four departments. The Commission has clarified that the actual number of posts may increase or decrease before completion of the selection process, and JKSSB is not legally liable for such variation. The category-wise vacancy break-up (Open Merit, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes-1, Scheduled Tribes-2, Other Backward Classes, Residents of areas adjoining Line of Actual Control/International Border, Residents of Backward Areas, and Economically Weaker Sections) is given in parentheses in the table below.

Agriculture Production Department (46 Posts)

Candidates applying for Senior Canning Attendant require Matric or equivalent with 6 months' training in Fruit Preservation. Candidates applying for Horticulture Technician Grade-IV require 10+2 with one year Basic Horticulture training, and the training certificate must be from a Central/State/UT Government institution, a UGC-recognised university, an agricultural/horticultural university, an ICAR institute, or another institution specifically recognised by a competent authority.

Health and Medical Education Department (421 Posts)

Qualification for Health and Medical Education Department posts varies by post: Health Educator requires Graduation with Science; Sanitary Inspector requires 10+2 or above with a minimum 2-year Diploma in Sanitation and Public Health; Junior Pharmacist requires 10+2 Science with a Degree/Diploma in Pharmacy; Para Medical Assistant requires 10+2 with a Diploma in Para Medical Assistant Course; Junior Theatre Technician requires Matric or above with a Degree/Diploma in Operational Theatre Technology; Junior Ophthalmic Technician requires Matric or above with a Degree/Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician Course; Junior Lab Technician requires Matric or above with a minimum 2-year Diploma (or degree) in Lab Technology; Junior Staff Nurse requires Matric with Science and a Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery; and FMPHW/MMPHW require Matric or above with Science and the respective Diploma (minimum 1 year for MMPHW).

Higher Education Department (48 Posts)

Candidates require a Graduate degree with Science; preference will be given to candidates holding a Post Graduate Diploma in a professional laboratory course in Chemistry or another Science subject. Graduate in Science means a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Zoology/Botany), or Mathematics and their derivative subjects.

Labour and Employment Department (3 Posts)

Candidates require Matriculation or an equivalent examination from a recognised University or Board of Examination.

Domicile Requirement

Candidates must be Domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format on or before the cut-off date, i.e., 9 October 2026 (unless extended).

JKSSB Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 1 January 2026. The maximum age limit varies by category, as shown below.

Every Ex-Servicemen who has served in the Armed Forces is allowed to deduct the period of such service from their actual age; if the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed maximum age limit for the post by more than 3 years, they are deemed to satisfy the age condition, provided the candidate is not born after 1 January 2008.

Qualification

Qualification is specific to each post and district, as listed in the vacancy tables above (Annexure-A of the notification). Candidates declared qualified/shortlisted for Document Verification must produce original certificates as proof of having acquired the prescribed qualification strictly on or before the cut-off date. Any candidate holding a qualification other than as prescribed is not eligible, and such candidature will be summarily rejected at any stage. Candidates claiming an equivalent qualification must produce an Equivalence Certificate when required by the Board.

• Qualification varies by post, ranging from Matriculation (Supervisor, Senior Canning Attendant) to 10+2 with a diploma (Horticulture Technician, Junior Pharmacist, Junior Staff Nurse, and other paramedical posts) to a Graduate degree with Science (Health Educator, Junior Laboratory Assistant). Application of Reservation

Reservation is applicable as per the category-wise vacancy break-up conveyed by the indenting departments and in accordance with the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules, as amended from time to time. Candidates seeking reservation must possess a valid Category Certificate strictly as on the cut-off date and upload it while submitting the online application; no further opportunity to upload documents will be given later. Certificates in a format other than the one prescribed under the relevant Act/S.O. will not be entertained, and the applicant is solely responsible for obtaining a certificate in the correct format within the validity period of the advertisement.

Horizontal Reservation

Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) applies to the extent communicated by the indenting departments or as per extant rules. Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Servicemen applies to posts carrying pay up to Level-6E (35900-113500). An Ex-Servicemen who has already availed Horizontal Reservation on joining a post cannot avail this benefit again for subsequent employment, and must submit a sworn affidavit and a Certificate in Form-XIV at the time of document scrutiny.

Fee can be paid only through online mode (Net Banking, Credit or Debit cards). Applications submitted without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected, with no representation entertained. Fee once paid is not refunded under any circumstances and cannot be adjusted against any other examination.

Pay scale is specific to each post, ranging from Level-2 (Rs. 19,900–63,200) for posts like Horticulture Technician Grade-IV, FMPHW, MMPHW, Junior Laboratory Assistant, and Supervisor, up to Level-6D (Rs. 35,800–113,200) for Sanitary Inspector and Level-6 (Rs. 35,400–112,400) for Health Educator. Junior Pharmacist, Para Medical Assistant, Junior Theatre Technician, Junior Ophthalmic Technician, Junior Lab Technician, and Junior Staff Nurse carry Level-4 (Rs. 25,500–81,100). JKSSB Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection for all posts in this advertisement is made purely on the basis of merit obtained in a Written/OMR Examination - there is no interview stage for these posts. The examination consists of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions, set in English language only. There is negative marking of one-fourth (25%) of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer. The date, venue, and syllabus for the examination will be notified separately on the JKSSB website.

Admission to the examination is provisional; the Board does not undertake detailed scrutiny of applications for eligibility at the time of the written examination. Ineligible candidates, once identified, will not be allowed to participate in subsequent stages, and issuance of an Admit Card does not confer any right to participation in later stages of selection.

Facility for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

Candidates with Benchmark Disabilities who are otherwise eligible and hold a valid disability certificate may avail the facility of a Scribe and/or compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination, on producing a Certificate from a competent Medical Board/Authority (Annexure-B) and an Undertaking (Annexure-C). The scribe must be arranged by the candidate, must not be a candidate for the same examination, must not be from the same institution or a relative of the candidate, and must hold a lower qualification than the candidate. Candidates must have applied as a PwBD candidate at the time of application and must submit the required documents to the Observer on the day of the examination.

Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification must appear with original documents along with self-attested photocopies, including Birth Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Category Certificate, and qualification certificates, all of which must be legally valid on or before the cut-off date. Failure to appear for DV or to produce the required original documents on the scheduled date will result in the candidate not being considered for selection. No TA/DA is paid for participation in the written test or document verification.

2. Fill the online application form; applications through any other mode will not be accepted.

• Name, date of birth, father's name, and mother's name must be entered exactly as in the Matriculation Certificate, or candidature may be cancelled at the time of Document Verification.
• Requests for change or correction in the application form, once submitted, will not be entertained under any circumstances.
• Only one application is allowed per item number; multiple applications for the same item will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment.
• Requests for modification of cadre/department preferences, once filled, will not be entertained.
• Applications with blurred or illegible photographs/signatures will be rejected summarily.
• Candidates must carry two recent passport-size photographs and an original photo ID to the examination venue, failing which they will not be allowed to appear.
