Meghalaya Home Guards Recruitment 2026 - Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Meghalaya BWHG Part-Time Naik and Lance Naik Enrollment 2026, candidates must satisfy specific citizenship, domicile, deployment history, and age requirements. Applicants must be Home Guards Volunteers who are currently deployed or engaged with various Requisitioning Agencies for a total period of 3 years (1095 days).
- Citizenship: Must be an Indian citizen.
- Domicile: Must be domiciled in the state of Meghalaya.

Nature of Deployment and Pay
Candidates considering this enrollment should understand the nature and terms of the deployment before applying. The engagement is purely temporary and voluntary, and carries no entitlement to regularisation or permanent retention in the department.
- The deployment period is for 1 (one) year, which may be extended based on the performance of the volunteers in the task assigned to them.
- Volunteers will be deployed in remote border areas of Khasi, Jaintia & Garo Hills bordering Bangladesh.
- The honoraria will be paid under 'Wages', Highly Skilled Category at the rate as prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Govt. of Meghalaya from time to time, including the Risk Allowance prescribed by the State Government.
- No volunteer can claim regularisation or permanent retention.
- The deployed volunteers can be dismissed or terminated at any time without assigning any reason.
Selection Process
The selection for Meghalaya BWHG Enrollment 2026 involves a Personal Interview conducted at designated centres. No separate intimation regarding the interview will be sent to individual candidates - it is the responsibility of the volunteer to monitor the selected list and interview dates published by the department.
- Stage 1: Submission of application in Prescribed Standard Form with all required documents to the respective District Home Guards office or District Training Centre or Deputy Controller of Civil Defence office.
- Stage 2: Scrutiny of applications.
- Stage 3: Personal Interview at Tura or Shillong centres.
Candidates shortlisted for the interview will find the dates and selected list notified on the Departmental Notice Boards and on the official website www.meghomeguards.gov.in. Volunteers must be prepared to stay for 2–3 days at their own arrangements during the interview process. No TA/DA will be admissible for the journey or stay.
Documents Required
The application must be submitted in the Prescribed Standard Form along with self-attested copies of all required certificates and testimonials. Incomplete applications or applications not accompanied by the required documents will be rejected, and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

The application process is entirely offline. There is no online application portal for this enrollment. Candidates must obtain the Prescribed Standard Form and submit it in person or by post to the correct office before 6 July 2026.
- Obtain the application form in the Prescribed Standard Form from the detailed notice available at District Home Guards Commandant offices (Shillong, Jowai, Tura), District Training Centres (Nongpoh, Nongstoin, Williamnagar, Baghmara, Khliehriat, Mawkyrwat, Ampati, Resubelpara), Civil Defence Offices, Deputy Commissioner of all Districts, and the departmental website www.meghomeguards.gov.in.
- Fill in the application form carefully with accurate details.
- Paste one passport-size photograph on the Standard Form and keep one additional copy ready.
- Attach self-attested copies of all required certificates listed above.
- Also attach the Deployment Period Certificate in the prescribed format, obtained from the District Commandant/Officers Commanding District Training Centre/Deputy Controller of Civil Defence.
- Submit the completed application along with all attachments to the respective District Home Guards Office / Officers Commanding District Training Centre / Civil Defence Office from where you are currently deployed with Requisitioning Agencies.

Important Points to Note
All volunteers appearing for the enrollment process must be aware of the following conditions. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disqualification or denial of entry at the interview stage.
- The Department shall not be responsible for any damage or injury to volunteers during the enrolment process.
- Volunteers must come prepared to stay for 2–3 days at their own expense. No TA/DA will be admissible.
- Valid ID cards must be carried at all times for identification purposes, and original documents must be presented to the Board during the Personal Interview.
- Canvassing, directly or indirectly, will lead to disqualification. Any volunteer found offering a bribe to anyone involved in the enrolment process or in a position of authority shall be disqualified and/or prosecuted.
- The Department reserves the right to cancel the enrolment process wholly or partially without assigning any reasons.
