Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Engineering / Technology in Electronics / Electricals / Electronics & Communications / Telecommunication / Computer Science / Information Technology or Masters in Computer Applications or M.Sc in Physics / Design / Mathematics / Statistics / Electronics / Applied Electronics / Operation Research / Total Quality Management / Information Technology; Master's Degree in Tech./Engineering in Electronics / Electricals / Electronics & Communications / Telecommunication / Computer Science; Ph.D in any of the above cited subjects
- Experience: 25 years of post qualification experience for Bachelor Degree, 22 years for Master's Degree, 17 years for Ph.D. Must have at least 5 years' experience in Senior Management Capacity.
- Age limit: Maximum 58 years (as on closing date of Application)
Other conditions:
- In the event of selection of a candidate for appointment to the post of Director General on Direct Recruitment mode, she/he would have to resign from her/his substantive post before joining the subject post.

NIELIT Director General Job Description
- Shall be responsible for planning, management and running of NIELIT under the overall guidance of the Governing Council;
- Shall be required to lead a group of professionally qualified team of IECT & management personnel at NIELIT Centres and Managers of all Institutes accredited for ‘O’, ‘A’, ‘B’ & ‘C’ level courses;
- Will interact with leading IT Education and Training Experts / Officers from Academia, Industry and Government;
- Shall be responsible for preparation of five Year Plans, Annual Plans, budget etc., of the Society and its Centres, apart from developing new education and training programmes in the emerging areas of IECT for implementation in the non-formal sector.
- Shall exercise such administrative and financial powers as contained in the NIELIT’s Memorandum of Association, Rules & Regulations, or as delegated to him by the Governing Council from time to time.
- Shall be the Member Secretary of the Governing Council.
Pay and Terms of Engagement
- The tenure of the post is for a maximum of 05 years or till attaining the age of superannuation, whichever is earlier.
