About TDD Recruitment 2026

The Tribal Development Department, Mantralaya, Mumbai, has constituted seven new Appellate Authorities pursuant to Section 6B of the Maharashtra Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, De-notified Tribes (Vimukta Jatis), Nomadic Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Special Backward Category (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of) Caste Certificate Act, 2000 (amended Act 2026). These authorities are established to hear and decide appeals filed by candidates within 90 days against orders of Scheduled Tribe Certificate Scrutiny Committees invalidating their caste claims. Appointed officers will discharge their functions under the administrative control of the Commissioner, Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Pune.

Where and How to Send

Eligible retired officers must submit their applications in the prescribed format, complete with personal details, past service records, and a recent photograph, using either of the following modes:

Posts, Eligibility and Pay

• Cadre: Officers retired from the cadre of Joint Secretary (सह-सचिव) in Mantralaya departments, or officers of equivalent or higher senior cadre from other government departments.
• Subject Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of tribal culture (आदिवासी संस्कृती), tribal customs and practices (आदिवासी प्रथा), anthropology (मानववंशशास्त्र), and ethnology (मानवजातीशास्त्र) to process and decide caste claim appeals.
• Language and Technical Skills: Working proficiency in Marathi and English languages, along with operational knowledge of modern artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
• Age Limit: Below 65 years. Preference will be given to eligible retired officers aged below 65 years.
• Experience: Must possess relevant administrative experience in government service at the required senior level. Applications without requisite eligibility and experience will not be considered or answered.

TDD Recruitment 2026 Job Description

• Serve as Administrative Member in one of the seven newly created Appellate Authorities under the Tribal Development Department.
• Process, evaluate, and dispose of appeals filed by candidates within 90 days from the date of receipt of orders invalidating their Scheduled Tribe claims by Scrutiny Committees under Section 6B of the Act.
• Complete all assigned quasi-judicial and administrative casework within the prescribed time limit.
• Function under the superintendence and administrative control of the Commissioner, Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Pune.

Selection Process

Eligible applicants will be selected through an interview conducted by the department.

• Initial Screening: Applications received from candidates lacking the required qualifications and experience will be rejected outright without any correspondence.
• Interview and Panel Formulation: Shortlisted eligible candidates will appear for an interview, based on which a panel of selected candidates will be prepared.
• Departmental Discretion: The Tribal Development Department reserves the full and final right regarding the selection of suitable candidates from the panel.

Important Instructions

• Contract Duration: The appointment is strictly on a contract basis initially for a duration of one year from the date of issuance of the appointment order.
• Resignation Notice: In view of the responsibilities associated with the Appellate Authority, any appointed officer wishing to resign from service must give a minimum of two months' advance notice.
• Administrative Reporting: During the contractual term, the retired officers will work under the administrative control of the Commissioner, Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Pune.
• Pay and Conditions: Honorarium, allowances, and other service conditions will strictly follow General Administration Department Government Resolution No. CBE-1525/Pr.Kr.37/Astham(Ka 13) dated 10 June 2025.
• Rejection of Late Applications: Applications received after 6 November 2026, 5:30 PM will be rejected automatically.
