Eligibility Criteria
- Designation: Assistant Professor (Pay Level 10, Rs. 57,700 – 98,200, minimum salary Rs. 70,900; 7th CPC with admissible allowances).
- Essential Qualification:
- Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.
- All candidates must have first class in the preceding degrees, i.e., from graduation (UG) onwards.
- If “first class” is not mentioned, candidates should have at least 6.5 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate; conversions given by the Institute/University may be considered.
- If CGPA/CPI is on a different scale, a certificate by authorized signatory confirming first class or equivalent 10-point scale conversion must be attached.
- Degrees must be awarded by recognized Universities/Institutes.
- At least one degree from graduation onward should be from IISc/IITs/IIITs/NITs/IIMs/ISI/IISERs, or the candidate should be working in regular pay scale at one of these institutions; candidates with degrees from high-ranked foreign institutions (QS/World Ranking preferably up to 500) are also eligible.
- Relevant Experience: None required (fresh Ph.D. holders are eligible).
- Other Essential Requirements: None specified beyond academic criteria.
- Additional Desirable Requirements: At least one publication in an SCI journal.
- Age and Inbreeding:
- Fresh appointments beyond 35 years in case of Assistant Professor are discouraged, except for candidates with exceptionally brilliant research career and ongoing or approved externally funded research project.
- Inbreeding is strictly prohibited for three years: applicants should not have been awarded their highest degree (Ph.D.) from ABV-IIITM Gwalior within three years prior to the last date of application.

Salary/Stipend
- Assistant Professor positions are in Pay Level 10 as per 7th CPC: Rs. 57,700 – 98,200 with minimum salary of Rs. 70,900.00.
- Admissible allowances such as DA, HRA and other benefits like medical reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, etc., are payable as per Institute rules.
- New Pension Scheme (NPS) of Government of India is applicable to fresh recruits as per Institute rules.
Age Limit
- Fresh appointments beyond the age of 35 years in case of Assistant Professor are discouraged.
- Exception: Candidates with exceptionally brilliant research career and with ongoing or approved externally funded research project may be considered beyond 35 years.

Selection Process
- Selection will be made in two phases:
- Phase I: Shortlisted candidates will appear for a presentation on teaching and research in their specialization.
- Phase II: Interview by the duly constituted Selection Committee.
- Mere fulfilment of minimum qualifications and experience does not entitle a candidate to be called for presentation or interview.
- A Screening Committee will shortlist eligible and desirable candidates based on qualifications, area of expertise, research outputs and experience higher than those prescribed; norms may vary across departments/posts.
- The invitation for interview indicates suitability but does not guarantee recommendation or selection.
- If a candidate has failed to secure the same post (same pay level) in two previous attempts or within the last six months, he/she will not be entertained again unless there is significant new achievement.
- Final recruitment and pay-fixation will be decided by the Board of Governors based on Selection Committee recommendations.
General Information/Instructions
- Assistant Professor posts (Pay Level 10) are purely on contract basis for a fixed period.
- The advertisement is governed by four-tier flexible faculty recruitment rules and relevant instructions issued by Ministry of Education.
