Eligibility Criteria
- Qualifications: Any recognised Degree with Post Graduate Degree / MBA / equivalent qualification from a recognised National / International University or First Class Graduate in BE/ B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology/ specialisation in relevant field of IT from a recognised University/ Institution or Degree in Law from a recognized National/ International University
- Essential qualifications: Desirable: Professional qualifications from Institute of Chartered Ship brokers or Institute of Chartered logistics and transport (member, fellow or associate of the institute obtained after passing prescribed examinations. Not honorary membership) or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology from a recognized University / Institution or Degree in Corporate/ Maritime Law from a recognised National/ International University
- Desirable: Experience in Port / Shipping Sector or Experience in Port/ Shipping Sector or Practicing experience as an Advocate
- Experience: 7 years work experience in the area of Business Development and trade Promotion in a Service Sector / Public Sector / Private Sector entity or 5 years experience in Executive cadre in Programming/ Electronic Data Processing/ Network/ System Design & Analysis/ relevant fields of Information Technology in any Industrial/ Commercial Organisation or 5 years experience in Legal wing of Corporates
Salary/Stipend
- Rs.1,60,000 for Sr. Manager
- Rs.1,20,000 for Manager
- The consolidated monthly amount will be subject to a maximum of 5% annual increment. He/she will not receive any other allowance and /or DA.
Age Limit (as on 16-02-2026)
- 45 years for Sr. Manager
- 40 years for Manager

Selection Process
- Selection will be based on the evaluation of qualifications carrying 40% weightage, based on gradings or percentage of marks obtained, and weightage for over and above each extra completed year of experience, subject to maximum of 30% weightage. Cochin Port Reserves the right to fix qualifying cut-off marks and limit the number of candidates for shortlisting, if deemed necessary. Candidates shortlisted or scoring above the prescribed cutoff marks at this stage will be required to make a presentation before a Board of Selectors on a topic given by them, which will carry 20% weightage. Thereafter, an interview carrying the 10% weightage will be held and selection will be based on the cumulated weightage score.
- An evaluation committee will be constituted by the Port under the Chairmanship of an appropriately high ranked officer, for selection of the functionaries. The Committee will first shortlist the applications on the basis of the criteria decided by it. Thereafter, the Committee will hold a personal interaction/interview.
General Information/Instructions
- Duration: The tenure of contract is for a period of 3 years from the date of joining, which may be extended by another 2 years based on the performance of the candidate/ necessity of engagement.
- He/ She will be allowed to avail weekly day off, closed holidays, national holidays & Casual Leave as applicable to regular officers with prior permission of reporting HoD. Failure to report for duty will entail deduction of wages on pro-rata basis.
- Working days/ hours would be on par with regular employee/ officer. This includes overstay beyond normal working hours in case of exigencies.
- He/ She should not leave the headquarters without prior permission.
- The Port will reserve the right to terminate the contract at any time on the ground of misconduct or otherwise, without any notice.
- He/ She has to give 3 months advance notice prior to leaving the contract engagement. If he/ she leaves without notice, or without acceptance of notice of termination, the amount due i.e. consolidated pay payable will be forfeited.
- The engagement is purely on contract basis and will not confer any right to claim regular appointment, etc.
- He/ She cannot claim any right/ title/ interest at par with the regular employees of the Port on similar or any other post doing similar work or otherwise.
- He/ She will be entitled for medical treatment in the Port hospital to the extent the facilities are available in house, for self only. No medical claims for treatment in any other hospital/facility will be entertained.
- He/ She may be provided with residential quarters of the Port as per availability, upon mutual agreement, and on payment of user charges as applicable to regular employees/officers.
- The contractual appointment will be subject to verification of antecedents by the Police. If any adverse report is received from the Police, his/her services are liable to be terminated.
- He/ She will not be permitted to take any other assignment during the period of contract with the Port.
- On official tour outside the headquarters, he/she will be the entitled to draw TA/DA as applicable.
- The contractual appointment will be subject to the candidate being found medically fit, as per requirement of the Port.
- He/ she will maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and will be liable for penal action for misconduct or causing loss to Port property attributable to him/her during the period of contractual engagement.
- He/ She will be governed by the Official Secrets Act, 1923, as amended from time to time and will not disclose any information/data available during their engagement to any unauthorized person(s).
- It is advised that the Employees working in Central State Government/Semi-Govt. Autonomous Bodies/CPSEs shall get approval from their competent authority to apply. They shall be required to submit No Objection Certificate, if shortlisted.
- The crucial date for determining the qualification and age shall be 16.02.2026 (closing date of on-line registration in the OAP). Vacancy advertised can be cancelled at the discretion of Cochin Port Authority without assigning any reasons thereof. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate(s).
- The date and schedule of interview, if any, will be intimated to the shortlisted candidates through email ID only provided in the applications by the candidates. - Online registration on the portal will close on 16.02.2026 at 17:00 hrs. Candidates are advised to regularly check the website/ OAP for any updates regarding the selection process. Candidates are advised to keep the essential documents ready by the time of start of online registration. - While applying for the post, the applicant should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility and other norms mentioned above.
