Note: As per the letter of the Director, Directorate of Medical Education, Uttarakhand (No. 8375/चि0शि0/03(मेडिकल)/09/2019-25 dated 09 February 2026), in the Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Pharmacology faculties, non-medical (non-doctor) candidates will be selected only if medical teacher candidates (MD/MS/DNB) as per the latest MCI/NMC norms are not available, so as to maintain parity for non-medico posts.

Nature of Post

The post is gazetted and carries a contributory pension.

Educational Qualification

Qualification is as per the latest NMC-TEQ Regulations - Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, dated 30 June 2025.

Preferential Qualifications

All else being equal, preference in direct recruitment will be given to candidates who have:

  • Served a minimum of 2 years in the Territorial Army, OR
  • Obtained a National Cadet Corps (NCC) 'B' Certificate

Medical Council Registration

Candidates must hold a valid/renewed registration certificate with the medical council of any state in the country, up to the last date of online application. Note: For non-clinical subjects, candidates holding an M.Sc (Medical)/Ph.D medical degree are not required to have Medical Council registration.

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India; or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Character, Marital Status and Physical Fitness

  • The candidate's character must be suitable for government service. Persons dismissed from service under Central/State Government or a local authority/corporation under their ownership/control are not eligible.
  • A male candidate with more than one living wife, or a female candidate with more than one living husband, is not eligible unless the Government is satisfied there is a special reason to grant exemption.
  • The candidate must be physically and mentally fit, free of any physical defect likely to interfere with efficient discharge of duties. A fitness certificate from the prescribed Medical Board is required before appointment to a gazetted post. Physical fitness for PWD candidates will be assessed as per their disability category certificate from an authorised medical practitioner.

The cutoff date for age calculation is 01 July 2025. For Uttarakhand's Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other notified categories, the upper age limit will be higher by as many years as specified in the applicable rules.

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST/OBC (Uttarakhand): 5 years relaxation in maximum age (as per Government Order No. 1399/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21 May 2005).
  • Dependents of Uttarakhand Freedom Fighters: 5 years relaxation (Government Order No. 1244/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21 May 2005).
  • Divyangjan (Persons with Disability) of Uttarakhand: 5 years relaxation (Government Order No. 1244/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21 May 2005).
  • Ex-Servicemen of Uttarakhand: As per Notification No. 6/1/72-Karmik-2 dated 25 April 1977, actual age is reduced by the period of armed forces service, provided the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed maximum age limit for the post by more than 3 years.
  • Orphan Children: Age relaxation provision as per Uttarakhand Government letter No. 11/XXXI(2)/2022-30(2)2019 dated 16 February 2022.

Reservation Policy

Reservation is available only to holders of a Uttarakhand permanent resident certificate. Categories eligible for vertical/horizontal reservation as per prevailing Uttarakhand Government orders include: Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, Ex-Servicemen, dependents of Freedom Fighters, Divyangjan (PWD), Uttarakhand Women, orphan children of Uttarakhand, Uttarakhand agitators (or their dependents), and skilled sportspersons.

Key Reservation Conditions

  • PWD reservation requires a minimum of 40% disability in the relevant category. For Professor/Associate Professor posts under the Medical Education Department, only the "One Leg Affected (O.L.)" disability category is eligible for reservation, as per Government Order No. 48/XVII-A-3/2023-01(11)/Vi.K./2017 dated 05 June 2023; applications from other disability categories will not be accepted.
  • Ex-servicemen reservation is admissible only to personnel themselves who have retired/been discharged from the Army, as per Government Order No. 133/XXXVI(3)2009/14(1)/2009 dated 16 March 2009; their dependents are not eligible for this reservation.
  • SC/ST candidates applying under the reserved category must submit a caste certificate issued by a competent Uttarakhand authority. OBC candidates must submit an OBC certificate issued as per Government Order No. 310/XVII-2/16-02(OBC)/2012 dated 26 February 2016; the certificate must not be older than 3 years from the last date of application submission, and must have been issued on or after 30 July 2023 and before the application deadline of 29 July 2026 to be considered valid.
  • EWS reservation is admissible only to permanent residents of Uttarakhand. Candidates applying under this category are not entitled to any relaxation in the maximum age limit. Only EWS certificates issued for FY 2026-27, based on FY 2025-26 income, will be considered valid.
  • Reservation for orphan children applies to children residing in registered voluntary/government homes under the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development, Uttarakhand, with no available information about their parents; a 5% horizontal reservation applies as per the applicable rules.
  • Skilled sportspersons who have won medals or participated at recognised international/national levels are entitled to 4% horizontal reservation, subject to conditions specified in the notification.
  • Reservation benefits are available only once a candidate marks the relevant reserved category/sub-category in the online application and uploads the supporting certificate; no reservation claim will be entertained afterward, and no change in the declared category/sub-category will be permitted later.

Paper publications will be considered valid as per the notifications applicable at the time they were approved by MCI/NMC. Experience is counted only in complete years (365 days); any period of absence is excluded from the experience calculation. Only the experience, paper publication, and additional qualification details entered in the online application will be considered - claims made later during document verification that were not entered online will not be considered by the Board.

Candidates under the Uttarakhand Ex-Servicemen sub-category will pay the fee applicable to their original category (General/SC/ST/OBC). Edit/Correction Process

  • The edit/correction link for the submitted application will open one working day after the online application closes on 29 July 2026, and remain open for 4 days - from 31 July 2026 to 03 August 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
  • Only candidates who have completed the application process can log in using their registration number and password to make corrections.
  • Candidates can amend any field except mobile number and e-mail ID.
  • Entries as edited during this window will be treated as final; data as of the original application closing date will otherwise be considered for processing timelines.
  • If a candidate changes their category/sub-category during correction (for example, from Unreserved to SC), the fee difference, if any, will not be refunded.
  • No request for correction/modification of any entry or claim will be considered by the Board once this correction window closes.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates must ensure they hold all mandatory educational, category, and reservation-related certificates by the last date of the online application. For educational qualification, the date on the mark sheet (Marksheet Issuing Date) will be considered.
  • The Board does not advise candidates on their eligibility; candidates should study the notification carefully and apply only if satisfied that they meet all conditions.
  • Issue of an admit card does not mean the candidature has been finally confirmed by the Board. If found ineligible at any stage, the candidature will be cancelled, even after final selection.
  • No change is permitted in any detail shown in the submitted online application after the correction window closes, including the issue date and number of category/sub-category certificates.
  • Signatures made at all stages - application form, attendance sheets, and correspondence with the Board - must be identical; any discrepancy may lead to cancellation of candidature.

  • Left thumb impression (for male candidates) and right thumb impression (for female candidates) will be required at the time of document verification.
  • In case two or more candidates score equal marks, the candidate holding preferential qualification will be considered senior; if neither holds preferential qualification, the older candidate will be considered senior; if age is also equal, seniority will be determined alphabetically by name.
  • Selected candidates must undergo the required medical/health examination as per rules before appointment.
  • Spreading misleading information about the examination will attract action under the Uttarakhand Competitive Examination (Measures for Prevention and Prohibition of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023.
