Vacancy Details

High Court of Allahabad has announced the recruitment of Special Judicial Magistrates for two districts in Uttar Pradesh. These positions are on a fixed honorarium basis with conveyance allowance. The recruitment is open for Government servants or former Government employees who possess legal qualifications or have extensive experience in legal affairs.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

• Status: Must be a Government servant (current or former) OR has held any post under the Government of India/State Government/Union Territory
• Educational Qualification: Must possess:
  • Law degree (LL.B. from a recognized university), OR
  • Be well-experienced in relation to legal affairs to the satisfaction of the High Court
• Professional Background: Experience in legal matters, judicial work, or administrative/legal roles under Government is an advantage

Term & Age

• Term of Office: 4 years from the date of assumption of charge OR attaining the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier
• Age Limit: No specific upper age limit mentioned, but term ends at age 70
• Transferability: A candidate appointed for a specific district shall NOT be transferred to any other district under any circumstances

Previous SJM/SMM Experience

• Ex-SJMs appointed by Government of Uttar Pradesh do NOT need to submit character roll entries
• Ex-SJMs applying for re-appointment must enclose four best judgments delivered while holding the post of SJM/SMM

Important Dates

Selection Process

• Application Scrutiny: All applications are submitted to the respective District Judge who conducts preliminary scrutiny
• District Judge Review: The District Judge reviews applications and forwards only those he finds fit for the SJM post to the High Court with his remarks
• High Court Evaluation: The High Court evaluates forwarded applications based on qualifications, experience, and legal expertise
• Merit-Based Selection: Selection is based on merit, qualifications, Government service record, and experience in legal matters
• Final Appointment: Appointment is made by the High Court through formal order of the Court

Salary/Remuneration

• Fixed Honorarium: ₹45,000/- per month (fixed, subject to correction and updation by High Court)
• Conveyance Allowance: ₹5,000/- per month for official travel and conveyance
• Total Monthly Remuneration: ₹50,000/- per month (base honorarium + conveyance)
• Payment: Subject to correction and updation from time to time as per High Court guidelines

Application Preparation

1. Download the Application Form from the official High Court notification PDF
2. Fill all columns of the application form in block letters (all columns are compulsory)
3. Affix a self-attested recent passport-size photograph
4. Provide complete and accurate information including:
   • Full name, father's name, date of birth
   • Current and permanent residential addresses with PIN codes
   • Email address and mobile number
   • Details of posts held under the Government (designation, pay scale, duration, retirement date)
   • Educational qualifications (High School, Intermediate, Graduation, LL.B., and any other qualifications)
   • Whether previously worked as SJM/SMM with year-wise details and annual confidential report percentages
5. Mention whether any criminal case is pending or FIR lodged
6. Sign the declaration that all information provided is correct

Required Documents (Self-Attested)

• Photocopies of all relevant documents mentioned in the application
• Character roll entries of the last 5 years of Government service (if applicable)
• Law degree certificate and other educational qualification certificates
• Copy of Gazette notification of Government service record
• For ex-SJMs applying for re-appointment: Four best judgments delivered as SJM/SMM
• Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) for the last 5 years (if available)
• Self-attested photograph (4x6 cm)

Submission Mode

1. Applicants must submit their applications OFFLINE directly to the respective District Judge of the district for which they are applying
2. Do NOT send applications directly to the High Court — applications sent directly to High Court will be rejected
3. Submit to the following District Judges based on your choice:
   • For Gonda: District Judge, Gonda District Court
   • For Jalaun: District Judge, Jalaun District Court
4. Ensure all documents are complete and properly organized
5. Keep a copy of submitted application for reference
