Ambedkar Nagar Anganwadi Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The selection process is conducted entirely by the District Magistrate through a District-level Selection Committee, as per the government order dated 17 September 2025.
Selection Committee Composition
- Chairperson: Chief Development Officer or a senior administrative officer of Additional District Magistrate rank, nominated by the District Magistrate
- Member Secretary: District Programme Officer of the district
- Member: District-level SC/ST officer nominated by the District Magistrate
- Member: District-level OBC officer nominated by the District Magistrate
- Member: A Group 'A' or 'B' woman officer posted in the district, nominated by the District Magistrate
- Member/Presenter: Concerned Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the project
A quorum of at least 4 members is mandatory for the Selection Committee meeting, and the presence of the Chairperson and District Programme Officer is compulsory. SC/ST and OBC representation in the committee is also mandatory.
Selection Priority for Sahayika-to-Karyakatri Posts
For the 50% Karyakatri posts reserved for internal promotion of Sahayikas, the order of priority is:
- An eligible Sahayika of the same Anganwadi centre in the same Gram Sabha/Ward with a minimum of 5 years of regular service, minimum Intermediate qualification, and age not exceeding 50 years.
- If not available, an eligible Sahayika from another Anganwadi centre within the same Gram Sabha/Ward, selected on merit.
- If the 50% quota is not filled at the project level, remaining vacancies are filled at the district level following the same 50% principle.
Selection Priority for Direct Recruitment (Karyakatri and Sahayika)
Where posts are filled through open (direct) recruitment, the order of preference among eligible women of the same Gram Sabha/Ward is:
- Widow from a family living below the poverty line (BPL)
- Legally divorced or deserted woman from a BPL family
- Other women from a BPL family (if no widow/divorced/deserted candidate is available)
- If no eligible BPL candidate is available: Widow from an Above Poverty Line (APL) family
- Legally divorced or deserted woman from an APL family
- Other eligible women from an APL family
If no eligible candidate is found in the same Gram Sabha, category-wise selection is done from the concerned Nyaya Panchayat area following the same priority order.
Merit List Preparation
Where more than one eligible candidate is available in the same category, a merit list is prepared using the following formula:
Merit Score = Intermediate percentage + Graduation percentage + (Post-graduation percentage ÷ 10)
The percentage obtained is divided by 10 to arrive at the marks (for example, 45% in Intermediate = 4.5 marks). Marks obtained in grading/CGPA systems are also converted accordingly. Calculations are done up to three decimal places without rounding off. If candidates have equal marks, preference is given to the candidate with higher age; if age is also equal, preference is given to the candidate with higher educational qualification.
Reservation
Reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates is applicable as per applicable Uttar Pradesh government orders, and is applied post-wise/centre-wise as shown in the vacancy annexure.
Document Verification and Appointment
- Original certificates of selected candidates are verified by a committee comprising one Selection Committee member/District Programme Officer and the concerned CDPO.
- On satisfactory verification, appointment letters are issued by the District Programme Officer (the appointing authority) within 15 working days of District Magistrate's approval.
- A waiting list (2nd position candidates) is also prepared for each vacant centre; if the selected candidate does not join, the waiting-list candidate is considered as per seniority, subject to District Magistrate's approval.
- The waiting list remains valid only for 3 months (90 days) from the date of issue.
