Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Educational Qualification: A person who is appointed as Drug Inspector under the Act shall be a person who has a degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with Specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a University established in India by law (as per Rule No. 49 of Drug & Cosmetics Rules 1945).
- Experience Requirement: Only those Inspectors who have not less than 18 months experience in the Manufacture of at least one of the substance specified in Schedule C, OR who have not less than 18 months experience in testing of at least one of the substances in Schedule C in a laboratory approved for this purpose by the licensing authority, OR who have gained experiences of not less than three years in the inspection of firms manufacturing any of the substances specified in Schedule C during the tenure of their services as Drugs Inspectors, shall be authorised to inspect the manufacture of the substances mentioned in Schedule C.
- Essential Qualifications: Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a University established in India by law.
- Desirable: As per Drug & Cosmetics Rules 1945, Rule 49 specifications.
Salary/Stipend
- Pay Band: PB-II, Rs. 9,300 - 34,800
- Grade Pay: Rs. 5,400 (Level-9)
- This is the pay scale as per the existing pay structure for the post of Drug Inspector.

- Written Examination: The written examination will be objective type consisting of 5 papers of 200 marks each. Each paper will be of 2 hours duration. Total marks for written examination: 1000 marks.
- Paper-I: Pharmaceutics for Degree in Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences; General Medicine for Degree in Medicine with specialization (200 marks)
- Paper-II: Microbiology (200 marks)
- Paper-III: Pharmacology (200 marks)
- Paper-IV: Pharmaceutical Chemistry for Pharmacy degree holders; Biochemistry for Medicine degree holders (200 marks)
- Paper-V: Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence & Ethics (200 marks)
- Interview: 100 marks
- Total Marks: 1100 (1000 Written + 100 Interview)

General Information/Instructions
- Post Type: Permanent position with 2 years probation period
- Department: State Drug Control Directorate, Namkum, Ranchi under Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand
- Reservation Benefit: Reservation benefit will be given only to permanent residents of Jharkhand State. All categories of candidates claiming reservation must submit Local Resident Certificate. Caste/income and asset certificates issued for educational purposes will not be acceptable for determining reservation category.
- Caste Certificate: SC/ST candidates of Jharkhand State must submit caste certificate issued by competent authority in prescribed format (Form-5/Form-V for ST and Form-4/Form-IV for SC). Central Format caste certificates are not valid for state government services.
- OBC Certificate: EBC-I and BC-II category candidates must submit caste certificate in prescribed Format-XI/Form-11 (Non-Creamy Layer) issued by competent authority of Jharkhand State. If the validity of Non-Creamy Layer certificate has expired, candidates must submit self-declaration in Form-XV.
- EWS Certificate: Economically Weaker Section candidates must submit valid and updated Income & Asset Certificate issued by competent authority of Jharkhand State in prescribed format (Annexure-I).
- Change of Category: Changes in reservation category claimed in online application cannot be made during the recruitment process.
- Document Verification: Original certificates of all documents mentioned in application must be presented at the time of document verification before interview, otherwise reservation benefit will not be given.
- NOC Requirement: Government servants must enter details of No Objection Certificate issued by controlling authority in online application, or if NOC is not issued at that time, must indicate "Applied for NOC" and submit original NOC at time of document verification.
- Misconduct: Candidates found guilty of misconduct including providing false information, suppressing material information, impersonation, using unfair means, submitting fabricated documents, etc. may be disqualified and debarred from examinations as per Jharkhand Competitive Examination (Prevention and Prohibition of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023.
- Pre-examination Training: Information regarding pre-examination training syllabus is available on Commission's website.
- Commission's Rights: The Commission reserves the right to postpone or cancel the selection process at any time without assigning any reason.
- Canvassing: Canvassing in any form will disqualify a candidate.
- Final Authority: The decision of the Commission regarding eligibility and other matters will be final.
How to Apply
- Candidates can apply online only through One Time Registration (OTR) System available on JPSC website www.jpsc.gov.in from 29.01.2026 to 18.02.2026 (05:00 PM).
- Before filling online application, candidates must read "How to Register for OTR" available on Commission's website.
- Candidates must have valid email ID and mobile number which should be kept active till final result declaration.
- Upload clear colored passport size photograph and signature at designated places through OTR System. Application will be rejected if photograph and signature are not uploaded.
- Fill application form in BLOCK LETTERS (except signature).
- Write name and father's name spelling exactly as mentioned in Matriculation certificate/mark sheet.
- Enter date of birth as mentioned in Matriculation certificate/mark sheet.
- Pay examination fee through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/Wallet/Bharat QR/UPI via Payment Gateway.
- After successful submission, login to dashboard and download filled application from "Download Filled Application Section". Take two printouts.
- Upload required documents in OTR and also send hard copy of online application along with self-attested copies of all required certificates by Registered Post/Speed Post/Hand Delivery to: Examination Controller, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Circular Road, Ranchi, 834001 by 05.03.2026 (05:00 PM).
- Write on envelope: Advertisement No. 12/2025, Post Name: Drug Inspector, OTR No., Registration No. in BOLD letters.
