KSET Eligibility Criteria and Application Details
To be eligible for KSET 2025, applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized university and secure at least 55% marks (General category) or 50% marks (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, Transgender categories). Final-year postgraduate students can apply provisionally with proof required within the stipulated time. Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s before September 19, 1991 receive a 5% relaxation in marks, so they need only 50%.
There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor eligibility through KSET. Candidates may only appear for the subject of their post-graduation, or select a related subject from the official list if theirs is not available. Indian citizenship is mandatory, and Karnataka domicile holders have some advantages under the reservation policy.
Candidates who have already qualified KSET in the same subject, or cleared UGC-NET/CSIR-NET before 1989, are not allowed to reapply. Only the top 6% of all candidates who appear and meet minimum qualifying marks (40% for General, 35% for reserved categories in both papers) will be declared eligible for Assistant Professor posts.
