Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • The candidate must hold a Graduation degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Minimum age must be 21 years as on 01/08/2025.
  • Maximum age for Unreserved (Male) is 37 years.
  • Maximum age for Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class (Male & Female) and Unreserved Female is 40 years.
  • Maximum age for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Male & Female) is 42 years.
  • Regular Bihar Government employees are eligible for up to 5 years age relaxation, subject to a maximum of 5 attempts in BPSC competitive exams.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) get 10 years relaxation over and above the maximum age limit, with valid disability certificate.
  • Ex-servicemen get 3 years plus the length of defence service as relaxation, provided their actual age on the date of application does not exceed 57 years.
  • All reservation and age relaxations are applicable only to permanent residents of Bihar as per State Government rules with valid certificates.

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2025)

  • Minimum age: 21 years (for all categories).
  • Maximum age: 37 years for Unreserved (Male).
  • Maximum age: 40 years for BC/EBC (Male & Female) and Unreserved Female.
  • Maximum age: 42 years for SC/ST (Male & Female).
  • Regular Bihar Government servants: up to 5 years relaxation in upper age limit, with a maximum of 5 exam attempts.
  • PwBD candidates: 10 years relaxation over and above maximum age limit, subject to valid disability certificate.
  • Ex-servicemen: 3 years + length of defence service relaxation, provided actual age on application date is not more than 57 years.

Application Fee

  • Examination fee for each candidate: Rs. 100/-.
  • Bank charges as decided by the respective banks are payable extra and will be added automatically during online payment.
  • Candidates who do not mention Aadhaar number as identity proof in the online application must pay an additional Rs. 200/- as Biometric fee.
  • Once paid, any fee will not be refunded even if the application is cancelled by the candidate.

Salary/Stipend

  • Pay scale: Level-5 of the pay matrix.
  • Basic pay: Rs. 29200/- per month.
  • Pay is subject to revision from time to time as per State Government pay revision orders.

Selection Process

  • Selection will be based on a written objective-type examination only; there will be no interview.
  • Minimum qualifying marks in the written exam: 40% for UR, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC, and 32% for SC/ST, women and PwBD candidates.
  • The written exam will consist of three papers:
    1. General Language (General English – 30 marks + General Hindi – 70 marks), 100 questions, 2 hours, qualifying only; minimum 30% marks required separately in each language.
    2. General Studies, 100 questions, 2 hours, 100 marks.
    3. General Aptitude, 100 questions, 2 hours, 100 marks.
  • Each question carries 1 mark and there is negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer.
  • If a candidate does not obtain the minimum qualifying marks in both English and Hindi papers, the other papers will not be evaluated and candidature will not be considered.
  • After the written exam, document verification will be conducted and candidates must produce all original certificates as per their online claims.
  • The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the written exam only.
  • In case of tie in total marks, higher marks in General Studies will be considered; if still tied, older candidate will be preferred; if still tied, preference will be according to alphabetical order of name in Devanagari script.
  • There is no provision for re-evaluation of answer sheets under this advertisement.

How To Apply

  • Candidates must first complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the BPSC online portal at https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in.
  • Click on “New User Registration” and complete OTR using a valid active email ID and mobile number.
  • After OTR, the Meri Pehchan (DigiLocker) portal will open; candidates can sign in/sign up to DigiLocker, give consent to share documents with the BPSC system, or return to the application portal via browser Back button.
  • Create profile in six steps: Personal Information, Address Information, Other Information, Qualification Information, Experience Information, and Upload Photo/Signature & Profile Lock.
  • In Personal Information, fill category (UR/EWS/BC/EBC/SC/ST), disability details, sports, ex-serviceman status, government employee status etc. correctly and click Save.
  • In Address Information, fill permanent and correspondence address (state, district, PIN); use “Same as Above” if both are same.
  • In Qualification Information, enter details of at least 10th and 12th onwards: qualification, subjects, board/university, status (Completed/Appearing), passing date, attempts, marks, total marks, percentage, mode (Regular/Distance) etc., then click Add and Save.
  • If applicable, enter relevant work experience details and Save.
  • Upload live photograph via webcam and upload clear scanned signatures in English and Hindi within prescribed size and pixel requirements, then Save.
  • Tick the confirmation checkbox and click “Submit and Lock Profile”; only after profile is locked will active advertisements be visible under the New Advertisement tab.
  • Under New Application tab, select the relevant advertisement, check eligibility, then click “Submit & Pay Fees” to complete application and fee payment.
  • If any mistake is found in the application form, the candidate may cancel the application and submit a fresh one; however, any fee already paid will not be refunded.
  • Candidates are not required to send hard copies of the application or documents to the Commission; any such hard copy or supplementary documents will not be considered.
  • After final submission, go to My Account tab, use View option and download/print two copies of the submitted application form and keep safely.

  • If any certificate or information is found incorrect/defective during verification, the application will be cancelled and the candidate may be debarred from present and future exams.
  • No changes are allowed in particulars such as name, date of birth, category and fee once the online fee is paid; candidates should verify these before payment.
  • Candidates must use their own working mobile number and email ID in the application and keep them active till publication of final result.
  • The Commission will not be responsible for internet or banking disruptions; candidates should not wait for the last date and are advised to complete all steps well in time.
  • The downloaded application hard copy must display Application Number, Application ID and Bar Code on every page; otherwise the application will be treated as incomplete.
  • The Commission will not be responsible for any error in online entries; candidates will be solely responsible for any adverse consequences.
  • Incomplete, unclear, unsigned or late applications will be rejected and examination fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
