Exam Mode, Shifts and Timings
CUET PG 2026 will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across exam centres in various cities.
NTA has scheduled the exam in multiple shifts per day:
-
Shift 1: 9:00 am to 10:30 am
-
Shift 2: 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
-
Shift 3: 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Each paper will be of 90 minutes duration, regardless of the subject. Not all subjects will run in every shift, so students must match their subject name and code with the exact date and shift given in the official timetable.
Number of Subjects and Registrations
CUET PG 2026 is a large-scale exam covering 157 postgraduate subjects. Around 4,11,366 candidates have registered this year, which shows how crucial this exam has become for PG admissions in central and participating universities.
As per the rules, a candidate can appear for a maximum of four papers, so many students will have exams scheduled on multiple days and shifts.
Language of the Question Paper
NTA has also clarified the medium of the CUET PG question papers.
-
Most papers will be available in English and Hindi.
-
41 language papers will be conducted only in their respective languages.
-
MTech and Higher Sciences papers will be in English only.
-
Acharya papers will be in Sanskrit, except Indian Knowledge System and Bauddha Darshan, which will be available in Hindi, Sanskrit and English.
-
Hindu Studies will be offered in Hindi and English.
Before the exam, students should confirm the language options for their specific subject so they know what to expect.
Subject-wise Time Table & Official PDF
The complete subject-wise schedule has been released along with the official NTA notice. This schedule clearly mentions:
-
Exam date
-
Shift (morning, afternoon, evening)
-
Subject name
-
Subject code
Since the list is very long, students are advised to download and check the official PDF directly from the CUET PG section of the NTA exams website. Carefully note down your paper-wise dates and shifts and keep a written or digital copy handy to avoid confusion later.
City Intimation Slip, Admit Card & Updates
NTA will release the CUET PG 2026 city intimation slip about 10 days before the start of the exam. This slip will tell you the city where your exam centre is located, but it is not a substitute for the admit card.
-
The admit card will be released separately on the official website closer to the exam dates. Students should:
-
Regularly check the official exam portal for new notices.
-
Keep their application number and date of birth ready to log in and download the city slip and admit card.
For any confusion or difficulty, candidates can contact NTA using the helpline phone numbers or email ID mentioned in the public notices.
How to Use the Time Table for Smart Preparation?
Now that the CUET PG 2026 exam dates and timetable are out, you can plan your final preparation more strategically.
Here are some practical ways to use the schedule:
-
Note all your subjects with their exact exam dates and shifts in one place (diary, planner or digital calendar).
-
Start revising earlier for subjects scheduled in the first week of the exam window, so you are not rushed at the last moment.
-
For subjects scheduled towards the end, keep a proper revision cycle so you don’t pile everything up in the last few days.
-
Try giving mock tests in CBT mode at the same time as your actual shift to align your body clock and focus level.
This way, the official timetable becomes a tool to organise your preparation instead of just a list of dates.
