ECHS invites applications from Ex-servicemen and Civilians to be employed as contractual employees on various appointments tenable at Polyclinics under Station Headquarters, Chennai for vacancies from 01 Apr 2026 to 30 Sep 2026.
Medical Specialist: MD/MS in speciality concerned/DNB with minimum 3 years’ experience in the subject concerned after Post Graduation.
Radiologist: PG degree in the concerned speciality in section A or B of schedule VI of the Central Health Services Regulation 1996 or 5 years’ experience after obtaining Post Graduate Diploma; DMC Registration is a must.
Gynaecologist: MD/MS in speciality concerned/DNB with minimum 3 years’ experience in the subject concerned after Post Graduation.
Medical Officer: MBBS with minimum 3 years’ experience after Internship; preferable additional qualification in Medicine/Surgery.
Lab Assistant: Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT)/Class-1 Lab Technician course (Armed Forces) with minimum 5 years’ experience in Medical Laboratory.
Pharmacist: B Pharmacy or 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology and Diploma in Pharmacy with minimum 3 years’ experience as a Pharmacist.
IT Network Technician: Diploma/Certificate/Equivalent in IT Networking, Computer application with minimum 2 years’ experience.
Driver: Minimum passed Class-8th/Class-1 Driver MT (Armed Forces) with minimum 5 years’ experience as a driver and holding a civil driving license (LMV).
Female Attendant: Literate with minimum 5 years’ experience in civil/Army Health institutions.
Safaiwala: Literate with minimum 5 years’ service.
Chowkidar: Education Class 8th Std or GD Trade (Armed Forces).
Peon: Education Class 8th Std or GD Trade (Armed Forces) with minimum 5 years’ service.
Salary/Stipend
Medical Specialist, Radiologist, Gynaecologist: Rs 1,30,000/- per month; part time may also apply with gross monthly part time Rs 4670/- per day (four hours), Rs 3500/- per day (three hours), Rs 2330/- per day (two hours).
Medical Officer: Rs 95,000/- per month; selected candidates will undergo 10 days On the Job Training (OJT) and obtain a certificate from OIC Polyclinic before signing the contract; OJT will be unpaid but mandatory.
Officer-in-Charge: Rs 95,000/- per month with similar OJT requirement as specified.
Lab Assistant, Pharmacist, Radiographer, Physiotherapist, Dental Asst/Tech/Hygienist, IT Network Technician: Rs 36,500/- per month.
Clerk & DEO/Clerk, DEO: Rs 29,200/- per month; RC vacancy pay scale in lieu of Peon is Rs 21,800/-.
Driver: Rs 25,600/- per month.

Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview through SMS/email; list will also be displayed on the Notice Board.
An objective type written test on the relevant subject and practical tests as applicable will be conducted before interview.
Only those candidates meeting eligibility criteria and with completed application form, shortlisted by the Board of Officers, will be considered for interview.
Candidates will bring all original documents as applicable at the time of interview; no TA/DA will be admissible for attending the interview.
Employment of all individuals will be at the discretion of the appointing authority; changes in terms and conditions arising out of unforeseen circumstances may be made without compensation at the discretion of the appointing authority.
General Information/Instructions
Employment period for Ex-Servicemen would be 12 months and for others it will be 11 months, renewable for an additional period of one year/till attaining the maximum age, subject to performance and other conditions.
Individual application for each post as per format attached and available on www.echs.gov.in (duly affixed with passport size photo) should be submitted along with all supporting documents.
The application must reach Station Headquarters ECHS, Fort Saint George, Chennai - 600009 on or before the specified last date duly mentioning “Application for the post of ____” on the top of envelope; incomplete applications will be rejected.
Only one application is required to be submitted for a particular post for all Polyclinics.
Candidates earlier employed in ECHS whose services were terminated or who had resigned or are blacklisted need not apply; such applications will be rejected.
Computer qualified candidates will be given preference.
Changes to this notice, if any, will be posted on ECHS website only.
Those who have worked in any Empanelled Hospital must have a clear gap of one year between relinquishment of appointment in Empanelled Hospital and joining any ECHS establishment.
Anybody found using unfair means or creating a ruckus at the time of interview will be dealt with as per Code of Criminal Procedure Act 1973.
