Eligibility Criteria
Assistant Professor – Curriculum & Pedagogic Course (Manipuri, Chemistry, Economics)
Postgraduate degree in the concerned Pedagogy Subject (Manipuri / Chemistry / Economics) with 55% marks (or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from a recognized University/Institution.
M.Ed. degree with 55% from NCTE recognized institution.
Must have cleared NET conducted by UGC or CSIR or similar test accredited by UGC or SLET/SET for North East Region, OR have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and amendments.
For candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009, exemption from NET/SLET/SET is allowed subject to conditions: regular mode Ph.D., thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners, open viva voce conducted, at least two research papers from Ph.D. work (one in refereed journal), and at least two conference/seminar presentations sponsored/funded by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar, duly certified by Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs).
NET/SLET/SET qualification shall be either in the respective pedagogic subject (Manipuri/Chemistry/Economics) or in Education; Ph.D. qualification shall be in the concerned pedagogic subject or in Education/Teacher Education.
Assistant Professor – Perspective in Education or Foundation Course
Option 1:
Postgraduate degree in Social Science (Economics / Geography / History / Political Science) with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized University/Institution, and
M.Ed. degree with 55% from NCTE recognized institution.
OR Option 2:
Postgraduate (M.A.) degree in Education with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized University/Institution, and
B.Ed./B.El.Ed. degree with 55% from NCTE recognized institution (Desirable: B.Ed. degree shall be of Secondary Education).
Besides the above, candidate must have cleared NET conducted by UGC or similar test accredited by UGC like SLET/SET for North East Region, OR have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with UGC Ph.D. Regulations 2009/2016 and amendments, with the same Ph.D. exemption conditions as above.
For faculty in Perspectives in Education or Foundation Courses, NET/SLET/SET qualification shall be in Education; Ph.D. qualification shall be in Education or Teacher Education.
Relaxation Clauses (Common)
5% relaxation at Bachelor’s and Master’s level for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled (blindness and low vision; deaf and hard of hearing; locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid-attack victims, muscular dystrophy; autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness; multiple disabilities including deaf-blindness) for eligibility and assessing good academic record.
5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) in Master’s degree marks for Ph.D. degree holders who obtained their Master’s prior to 19 September 1991.
A relevant grade regarded as equivalent of 55% at Master’s level wherever grading system is followed by recognized University shall be considered valid.
Time taken to acquire M.Phil./Ph.D. degree shall not be counted as teaching/research experience; active service with simultaneous research without leave may be counted as teaching experience.
General Eligibility Conditions
Candidate must be a citizen of India.
Must be able to speak Manipuri, Meitei/Meetei lon or any of the Tribal dialects of Manipur.
Must be a permanent resident of Manipur; candidates whose parent/ancestor in direct lineage are/were permanent residents (with documentary proof such as electoral roll enrolment and birth certificate) are also eligible.
There will be no upper age limit.

Selection Process
Selection procedure governed by Appendix-1 Table-3 / Appendix II Table-3B of UGC Regulations 2018 as adopted by Government of Manipur Order No. 10/187/2018-HE dated 3 July 2021 (Annexure-A).
Academic score as per Appendix-1 Table-3 (graduation, post-graduation, M.Phil., Ph.D., NET/JRF/SET, research publications, teaching/post-doctoral experience, awards) will be used only for short-listing candidates for interview.
Final selections shall be based solely on performance in the interview.
Academic score sheets (Annexure-A) must be duly filled, self-scored and authenticated by candidate, and uploaded in the online application (Table-3 section) and also submitted offline along with supporting documents.
All research publications (peer-reviewed / UGC listed) and awards claimed for eligibility and scoring must be submitted as hard copies to the Secretary, MPSC along with Annexure-A and application printout by hand/Speed Post/Courier on or before 26 January 2026.
The academic scores will be examined by a Committee of Experts under supervision of the Commission.
The decision of the Commission regarding eligibility or otherwise of a candidate shall be final; candidature may be cancelled at any stage if conditions are not fulfilled.
