Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: PG Diploma / Degree in journalism / Mass Media or Graduate with minimum 2 years journalistic experience.
- Essential Qualification:
- Age Limit 24-50 years. (Age as on the last day of advertisement)
- Should reside at the respective district Headquarters or within a radius of 10 kms. from the District Headquarters/ Municipal limit in the district for which he/she is being engaged.
- Knowledge of computer and word processing.
- Possession of news gathering devices.
- Desirable Qualification: Experience of coverage for electronic media
- Experience: Journalistic experience to be desirable for candidates in difficult areas like UT Lakshadweep Islands.
Salary/ Stipend
- Monthly remuneration will be calculated as per NSD's circular No. RNU/PTC Guidelines/Modification/2022/1152, dated-28.08.2024, subject to satisfactory rendering of service to be certified by RNU Head, Akashvani, Thiruvananthapuram. The monthly remuneration is on an average Rs. 9,250/- including conveyance and telephone charges.

Selection Process
- The selection process will involve an interview. Candidates on the basis of qualifications, professional experience, knowledge about district and State, current affairs, awareness of welfare schemes of the Central Government, acquaintance with Radio news, journalistic aptitude, writing skills, familiarization with communication technologies etc.
- On initial engagement of a Part-Time Correspondent, his/her work performance would be monitored for three months, the contract will be renewed on a monthly basis. If his/her work is found to be satisfactory during this period, he/she may be offered yearly contract till the candidate attains the age of 60 years. The certificate for satisfactory performance should be issued by the RNU head.
General Information/ Instructions
- Engagement of Part-Time Correspondents (PTCs) will be on contractual retainership basis.
- The persons already in government service – Central/State Government/Administration of the Union Territory or in any Public Service Undertaking (PSU) and member of any Political Party will not be considered for engagement as PTC.
