Eligibility Criteria for Special Assam TET 2026
Basic Eligibility Requirements
A. Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.
B. Academic and Professional Qualifications: Candidates must meet NCTE-prescribed minimum qualifications.
Minimum Qualification for Lower Primary TET (Classes I to V)
Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
Minimum Qualification for Upper Primary TET (Classes VI to VIII)
Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications:
- Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- At least 50% marks in Graduation + B.Ed.
- At least 55% marks in Post Graduation (or equivalent grade) + 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed. or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
- Graduation with at least 50% marks + 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
Important Note: Minimum percentage requirements in graduation do not apply to candidates who took admission to B.Ed. or B.El.Ed. or equivalent courses before July 29, 2011.
Relaxation in Eligibility
- 5% relaxation in academic marks (HSSLC or Graduation) for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) candidates
- PWD candidates must have a minimum 40% degree of handicap certified by competent authority

For General Category Candidates
- Overall: 60% (90 marks out of 150)
- Language-1 Section: 60% (18 marks out of 30)
For SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) Candidates
- Overall: 55% (83 marks out of 150) - 5% relaxation
- Language-1 Section: 50% (15 marks out of 30) - 10% relaxation
Both conditions must be satisfied to qualify the examination.

Validity of Certificate
