Eligibility Criteria
- Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Library and Information Science (BLIS) / Master Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) with pass class from UGC approved College / Institute or recognized University.
- Experience: Graduate / Post Graduate in Library and Information Science with minimum six months of post qualification experience in the following areas:
- a) Library procedures, methods, and professional standards
- b) Knowledge in information gathering systems and methods
- c) Library programming standards
- d) Efficient management of database
- e) Maintenance of library resources
- f) Maintenance of computerized information database system
- g) Knowledge in library systems, cataloguing, on-line searching
- h) Management and maintenance of electronic resources for e-library
Salary/ Stipend
- Trainee Officer will be engaged for an initial period of 02 years which may be extended further period of 01 year (maximum tenure of 03 years) based on project requirement and individual performance. Candidates will be paid a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 30,000/- per month for the 1st year, Rs. 35,000/- per month for 2nd year and in the event of extension of contract, the remuneration shall be Rs. 40,000/- per month for 3rd year.
- In addition to the remuneration indicated above, a consolidated amount of Rs. 12,000/- per year will be paid towards expenses like medical insurance premium, attire allowance, stitching charges, footwear allowance, etc. The additional amount shall be paid in two equal installments i.e., first installment will be processed in the first month's salary after joining and the second installment will be paid on completion of 6 months from the date of joining.
Age Limit (as on 01-02-2026)
- The upper age limit indicated above in the table is for candidates belonging to UR category. For candidates belonging to PwBD category having minimum 40% disability or more will get 10 years' relaxation in addition to the relaxation applicable to the categories mentioned above. For the Ex-Servicemen relaxation in age will be as per Government guidelines.

Selection Process
- The candidates meeting the qualifying criteria and whose applications have been accepted will be provisionally shortlisted for the Written Test and the Written Test call letter will be sent by e-mail.
- Candidates are required to print the call letter and comply with the instructions indicated therein. Please note that call letters will be sent through e-mail not through conventional mail.
- The selections for the post of Trainee Officer shall be through Written Test and candidates shall be selected in the order of merit. The written test will be conducted for duration of 120 minutes comprising of 100 Questions, consisting of Technical and General Aptitude Questions. Each correct answer will fetch 01 mark and each wrong response will get negative mark of 0.25.
- The result of the Written test will be uploaded on BEL website and Candidates qualifying in the Written Test will be called for Document Verification based on merit.
- The Written Test will be at Bengaluru only.

- Only Indian nationals can apply for the posts.
- The minimum qualifying marks in written test is 35% for General candidates and 30% for PwBD candidates.

- The duly filled in application along with the self-attested photocopies of the below mentioned documents / enclosures are to be sent through post:
- a) Recent colour passport size photo.
- b) SSLC/SSC/ISC marks card or any other valid document as proof of date of birth.
- c) Semester / Year wise certificates of Bachelor degree in Library and Information Science (BLIS) / Master degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS)
- d) Final Degree / Provisional Degree certificate.
- e) Caste / Tribe / Community / Disability / Economic Weaker Section status Certificate in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/EWS respectively. Candidates are required to submit the certificate in the prescribed format. The formats of various certificates are provided as link to the advertisement.
- f) For persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): Disability should not be less than 40% for the PwBD candidates. A person, who wants to avail the benefit of relaxation, will have to submit a Disability Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.
- g) Post-qualification experience certificate(s) from previous / current employer. Where current employment certificate is not produced the offer of current employment, latest month payslip and employee ID proof should be compulsorily attached.
- h) Physical copy of payment receipt of SBI Collect (online mode / through SBI Branch).
- i) Identity Proof (Aadhar Card / Driving License / Voter ID).
- j) Additional Certificates, if any.
