Eligibility Criteria

  • a. (i) An eminent scholar having Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 (ten) research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per the criteria given in Appendix I, Table 1.
  • (ii) A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in University/College as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidates.
  • OR
  • b. An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in the relevant/allied/applied disciplines, from any academic institutions (not included in (a) above) / industry, who has made significant contribution to the knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years of experience.

  • (i) A good academic record, with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/relevant/allied disciplines.
  • (ii) A Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
  • (iii) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/Industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of Seventy-five (75) as per the criteria given in Appendix I, Table 1.

  • a. (i) A Master's Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
  • (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET etc. However, the exemptions in this regard are specified in Note 2.

A Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign University/Institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Ranking(ii) The Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking or (iii) Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Salary/ Stipend

  • Professor: BP Rs. 1,44,200/- - Rs. 2,18,200/- in Academic level 14 and other admissible allowances are as per State Government Orders.
  • Associate Professor: BP Rs. 1,31,400/- - Rs. 2,17,100/- in Academic level 13A and other admissible allowances are as per State Government Orders.
  • Assistant Professor: BP Rs. 57,700/- - Rs. 1,82,400/- in Academic level 10 and other admissible allowances are as per State Government Orders.

Age Limit

  • The upper age limit is 40 years on the 1st January of the year of the advertisement and relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC Category (non-creamy layer) candidates for the post of Assistant Professor. Differently-abled candidates (except in the post of Physical Education) are entitled to an age relaxation of 10 years.

Selection Process

  • The academic score (Appendix I, Table 2A) shall only be considered for short listing of the candidates for interview only as prescribed in the UGC Regulations, 2018 and the selections shall be made on the basis of existing Government rules.
  • The overall selection procedure shall incorporate a transparent and objective methodology of analysis of the merits and credentials of the applicants based on weightages given to the overall performance of the candidate in different relevant dimensions based on a scoring system adopted by the selection committee.

General Information/ Instructions

  • A. Appointments will be made on probation for one year. If the performance during this period is found to be satisfactory, the faculty member will be confirmed. In exceptional cases, the probation period may be waived or extended, and the appointment shall be governed by the rules as framed and/or amended from time to time. During or at the end of the period of probation, the services of the concerned faculty member may be terminated without assigning any reasons thereof. On satisfactory completion of the probationary period the concerned incumbent will be considered for confirmation of service. Stipulation in respect of Experience and Age may be relaxed by the authority in case of exceptionally brilliant candidates on recommendation of relevant selection committee.
  • B. Service conditions as will be notified by order of the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt of West Bengal from time to time, will be applicable.
  • C. Candidates applying for more than one post will have to apply separately for each post.
  • D. University of Kalyani reserves the right to keep all or some of the vacancies if circumstances so warrant.
  • E. The selection of advertised posts need not necessarily be confined only to those who formally apply.
  • F. Essential qualifications prescribed are the minimum and mere possession of them will not entitle applicants to be called for an interview. If the number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large and it is not convenient for the University to interview all the applicants, the number of candidates for interview may be restricted to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications, experience and other credentials or by any other suitable method.
  • G. For all posts, Proficiency in the medium of instruction in this University (Bengali and English) is required.
  • H. Candidates already in employment must apply through proper channel and “No Objection Certificate” must be produced in order to appear before Selection Committee.
  • I. Photocopies of all testimonials & certificates must be submitted at the time of interview (if called) and the originals of the same will be required for necessary verification.
  • J. Fulfilment of the minimum criteria will not ensure to get call letter for interview. University has the right to filter relevant candidates.
  • K. The period of time spent by the candidates to acquire M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees shall not be claimed or considered as teaching/research experience.
  • L. In order to get reservation benefit, the certificate, (as the case may be, if applicable) issued by the competent authority of Govt. of West Bengal only, will be considered.
  • M. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • N. Candidates belonging to the OBC-A and OBC-B categories, whose caste certificate was issued more than one year ago, must produce a certificate from the issuing competent authority that they do not belong to the creamy layer as on date of advertisement along with a copy of the previous certificate. For reservation for SC, ST, OBC-A (with NCL), OBC-B (with NCL) the certificates issued by the competent authority within the state of West Bengal shall only be considered valid. Such certificates issued by other states shall not be considered for the purpose of reservation.
  • O. Applicants have to submit a duly computed Academic/Research Score strictly as per the prescribed criteria and format given in Table 1 of Appendix I against the relevant items in the online application form, along with all supporting documents. Supporting documents in PDF shall include front pages of publications/books/book chapters indicating ISSN/ISBN/DOI and impact factor (if applicable), and proofs of e-content development, research guidance, research/consultancy projects, patents, and awards/fellowships etc. in proper order. Claims without valid documentary proof shall not be considered.
  • P. Applicants for the post of Assistant Professor have to additionally upload a scanned PDF copy of the duly computed score sheet prepared as per Table 2A of Appendix I along with supporting documents. Claims without valid documentary proof shall not be considered.
  • Q. The Academic Score Sheets will be used only for screening and/or short-listing purposes, and the University reserves the right to verify the correctness of the scores at any stage of the recruitment process.
  • R. The university reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reason thereof.
  • S. The university reserves the right of cancelling the present employment notification without assigning any reason thereof.
  • T. Any dispute(s), subject to jurisdiction will be under the Hon'ble High Court at Calcutta only.
