Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
For Assistant Professor (Clinical and Non-Clinical): PG Degree (MD/MS/DNB) in the concerned specialty from institutions recognized by MCI/NMC
For Assistant Professor (Super Specialty): PG Degree (DNB/DrNB/DM/MCh) in the concerned super specialty from institutions recognized by MCI/NMC
The candidate should possess the prescribed academic qualification as on the date of notification (01/01/2026)
Candidates applying for Clinical and Non-Clinical posts must have completed one year Senior Residency from recognized institute after completion of required qualification
Senior Residency is not required for super specialties
Candidates who have completed DNB from institutions not recognized by NMC must have completed one additional year of Senior Residency
Essential Requirements
AP Medical Council Registration Certificate is mandatory
Only Local Candidates of Andhra Pradesh are eligible to apply
Candidates who studied from 4th Class to 10th Class in the State of Andhra Pradesh are considered as local
Candidates who migrated to any part of AP from the State of Telangana within a period of 3 years from 2nd June 2014 are also eligible
Desirable
Candidates already working as Assistant Professors under Director of Medical Education are not eligible
No contract weightage marks will be awarded to Doctors working on Regular basis
No contract weightage marks will be awarded to Doctors who rendered contract service prior to their PG qualification
Experience
One year Senior Residency completion from recognized institute is mandatory for Clinical and Non-Clinical posts (after PG completion)
Contract service experience will be awarded weightage marks as per rules
Salary/Stipend
Pay Scale: As per 7th UGC Pay scales @ Rs. 68,900 - 2,05,500 per month
Additional Allowance: Super Specialty allowance of Rs. 30,000/- will be paid in addition to the salary for Super Specialty posts
No person shall be eligible if less than 18 years and more than 42 years
Age Relaxation
SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates: 5 years relaxation
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PBD): 10 years relaxation
Ex-servicemen: Shall be allowed to deduct from age a period of 3 years in addition to the length of service rendered in the armed forces
After making the deductions, age should not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post
Age relaxation for Ex-Servicemen is applicable for those released from Armed Forces other than by dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency

Selection will be based on merit and Rule of Reservation
Total Marks: 100
Marks for Qualifying Examination: 75 Marks
Weightage for Years Since Passing: 10 marks (@ 1 mark per year since PG/Super-specialty completion, up to 10 marks)
Central Institution Weightage: 5 marks for candidates who completed PG/Super Specialty from Central Institutions
Contract Service Weightage:
@ 5.0 Marks per six months of service for COVID-19 duties (0.83 Mark per each completed month)
@ 2.5 Marks per six months of service in Tribal Area
@ 2.0 Marks per six months of service in Rural Area
@ 1.0 Mark per six months of service in Urban Area
No weightage will be given for service rendered less than six months
In case of COVID-19, each completed month will be taken as a unit for awarding weightage marks
Contract service certificates must be issued by competent authority in prescribed format (Annexure-V)
Contract service rendered only after PG qualification in respective specialty will be considered

Reservation Policy
Vertical Reservations for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections
Horizontal Reservations for Women and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PBD)
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities means suffering from not less than 40% of any disability as certified by medical authority
Economically Weaker Sections means persons not covered under SC/ST/BC reservations and whose gross annual family income is below Rs. 8.00 lakh
EWS candidates must submit Latest EWS Certificate valid for 2025-26 issued by Tahsildar
Horizontal Reservation cuts across vertical reservation (inter-locking reservation)
