Eligibility Criteria

1. Work Assistant (Auxiliary) - 3 Posts (1 OBC, 2 EWS)

• Essential Qualification:
  • S.S.C. OR Equivalent (Central/State Board Examinations)
  • Minimum One-year experience in a reputed Canteen / Catering establishment
• Desirable Qualification:
  • Minimum one year certificate course in Food and Beverage service from a recognized Hotel Management Institute or Equivalent University/Institute
  • Minimum one year Experience in multitasking role (Commissary/F&B Service/Cosmetic Maintenance) in the Restaurant/ Canteen, Kitchen and/or Dinning facilities of any Hotel (5 Star and above), Government/PSU/Autonomous/Private concern having strength of 200 staff

2. Work Assistant (Technical) [Fitter] - 1 Post (Unreserved)

• Essential Qualification:
  • Passed S.S.C. OR Equivalent from a recognized Board
  • National Trade Certificate (NTC) awarded by National Council of vocational Training (NCVT) in Fitter Trade
• Essential Experience:
  • One year experience in the field as mentioned in the Job description
  • Job Description: Experience in the work of MS Windows and Public Buildings at various locations and Heights. Job includes repairs and maintenance of the MS windows and Aluminium Sliding windows, Fixing locks and Door closer etc. The Candidate should Possess Good Health and will be required to Assist Senior Technicians

3. Project Scientific Assistant (B) - 1 Post (Unreserved)

• Essential Qualification & Experience:
  • Full Time Science Graduate (from a recognized University/Institute with aggregate of 60% marks) in Physics/Engineering Physics/Electronics/Radio-physics
  OR
  • Full time Diploma in Engineering (from a recognized University/Institute with aggregate of 60% marks) in Electronics/ Electrical/ ECE/ EEE/ Electronic Instrumentation/ Industrial Electronics/ Opto-electronics
• Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications
  • 0-2 years' experience in analog and digital electronics, PCB designing, soldering
• Desirable Qualification & Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with analog and digital electronic circuits, PCB designing, circuit debugging, soldering, SMD soldering, operation of oscilloscopes, function generators, microcontrollers, FPGA, RF components, basic knowledge of precision electronics such as current controller for narrow-linewidth cw lasers, temperature controllers, PID feedback, laser frequency stabilization; familiarity with system integration and automation, Labview, interest in operation of lasers and opto-electronics components in the quantum optics and ultracold atoms lab
  • Applicants with higher qualifications such as MSc, BTech, MTech etc. in a relevant discipline may also apply. Candidates with more experience may also apply

4. Project Tradesman (B) [Electrician] - 1 Post (Unreserved)

• Essential Qualification & Experience:
  • National Trade Certificate (NTC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in trade of Electrician
  • Two years' experience in relevant field
  OR
  • National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) (with aggregate of 60% marks) awarded by National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) in trade of Electrician
  • One year experience in relevant field
• Essential Experience:
  • Knowledge of operation and trouble shooting of Single Three Phase supply system
  • Operation and Troubleshooting of LT power distribution, LT electrical equipment and lighting circuits
  • Wiring installation i.e Laboratory wiring, Control Panel wiring
  • Knowledge of Electrical wiring and safety related standards
• Desirable Experience:
  • Experience of working on Telephone and Data networks with at least 200 connections/nodes
  • Knowledge and hands on experience on various sizes and types of telephone cabling and terminations
  • Knowledge and hands on experience on various types of data cables like UTP, Armored UTP, MV, Optical fiber cables, Patch cords and various type of connectors and terminations. Ability of OFC splicing will be an additional advantage
  • Experience of working on data racks form 6U to 42U size with fixing of single phase and three phase PDU, various types of patch panels, Optical Fiber LIU, Data rack cabling, dressing and labeling
  • Familiarity and experience on telephone and data cabling inside ducts, shafts, through cable trays, conduits and ability of handling various tools like drilling machines, and other related hardware
  • Familiarity and experience of using cable testing equipment like continuity tester, cable tester and locator. Ability of using OFC testing tools like OTDR will be an additional advantage
  • Experience of using desktop/laptop and office applications suite
  • Experience in operating small machines to create prototype in sheet metal/aluminium/copper etc
  • Ability of working on small electronic circuits will be an additional advantage
  • Should be open to learn new skills as required

5. Project Physical Instructor - 1 Post (Unreserved)

• Essential Qualification & Experience:
  • H.S.C./Degree in any discipline
  • Certification in CPR & First Aid from a reputed & Govt. certified Institute
  • 1 - 2 years' experience as GYM/Fitness instructor in a modern GYM with aerobic, weight/resistance and fitness training facilities
  • Knowledge of demonstrating workout techniques, exercise plans and routines
  • Knowledge of providing guidance on injury prevention and stretching
  • Basic knowledge of fixing the GYM equipments
• Desirable:
  • Good communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations (e.g. youngsters, middle aged, seniors, athletes, persons with disability & students)
  • Punctuality, reliability, honesty, hardworking, co-operative and team-oriented. Willingness to follow supervisor's directions and adapt to shift duties

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2025)

• Work Assistant (Auxiliary): Maximum 31 years (Age relaxation as per rules for Other Backward Class - Maximum 28 years, Age relaxation as per rules for Economically Weaker Section)
• Work Assistant (Technical) [Fitter]: Maximum 28 years (Age relaxation as per rules)
• Project Scientific Assistant (B): Maximum 28 years (Age relaxation as per rules)
• Project Tradesman (B) [Electrician]: Maximum 28 years (Age relaxation as per rules)
• Project Physical Instructor: Maximum 40 years

General Information/Instructions

• All the above posts are tenable at TIFR, Colaba, Mumbai
• Selected candidates for the above posts at Sr. No. 1 & 2 are liable to be transferred to other Centers/Field Stations of the Institute, if required
• A higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidates for the posts at Sr. No.1 & 2
• The appointment for the above posts at Sr. No. 3, 4 & 5 is temporary and may be renewed each year up to a total period of three years depending upon performance
• Selected candidates for all the above posts will be required to work on Saturdays/Sundays and holidays, as per the exigencies of the Institute
• Selected candidates for all the above posts will be required to work in round-the-clock shift duties
• Prescribed age should not exceed as on July 01, 2025, for the above posts. Age relaxation as per rules
• Selected candidates for the post at Sr. No. 1 & 2 will be governed by the National Pension System applicable in the Institute [unless already governed by CCS (Pension) Rules 1972]
• Posts for general category (Unreserved) - SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates can also apply. Candidates applying for EWS reserved posts should not be covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs
• Applications from the candidates will be accepted ONLY ON-LINE
• Applicants from Government/Semi-Government/ Public Sector Undertaking, if called, will be able to participate in the recruitment process only upon submission of NOC from the competent authority, at the time of selection process
• Incomplete online applications received after the last date shall not be considered

• The candidates are required to produce the following original documents with copies at the time of recruitment process:

  • In case Universities/Board award letter grades/CGPA/OGPA, the same will have to be indicated as equivalent percentage of marks as per the norms adopted by the University/Board. In the absence of the same, the candidature will not be considered. While submitting original documents for verification, the candidates will have to produce the norms of the University/Board for conversion of grades/CGPA/OGPA to equivalent percentage of marks
  • Experience certificates from two respectable persons
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS & PwBD certificate (wherever applicable) in the Government of India format
  • OBC candidates should submit a valid copy of the 'Non-creamy Layer certificate issued by competent authority in the Government of India (GOI) format. The OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate in GOI format should be preferably for the current financial year on the date of closing of application or almost not earlier than one year from the date of closing of application. Acknowledgement receipt of submission of application for OBC-Non Creamy Layer Certificate (or current financial year will also be accepted (If selected, the candidate has to submit Non-Creamy Layer certificate for the current financial year)
  • EWS candidates should submit a valid copy of the EWS certificate issued by competent authority in the Government of India (GOI) format. The EWS certificate in GOI format should be preferably for the current financial year on the date of closing of application or almost not earlier than one year from the date of closing of application. Acknowledgement receipt of submission of application for EWS certificate (or current financial year will also be accepted (If selected, the candidate has to submit EWS certificate for the current financial year)
• Outstation candidates selected for the posts at Sr. no. 3 will be paid single second class (non-air conditioned) return train fare for the journey by the shortest route from the nearest railway station of their place of residence or the production of ticket otherwise or the eligible return train fare on production of tickets after booking passenger
• If you travel by air, you are required to purchase air tickets ONLY from 1) M/s Balmer Lawrie & Company Limited (BLCL) 2) M/s Ashok Travels & Tours (ATT) 3) Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC). BOOKING THROUGH LTC PORTAL IS NOT ALLOWED. The air-fare for such candidates will be restricted to the eligible return train fare on production of tickets after booking passenger
• The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the recruitment process to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Mere fulfilling the essential and desirable qualifications and experience will not entitle an applicant to be called for the recruitment process. The Institute reserves the right not to fill any/some posts herein advertised. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate
