GSSSB Work Assistant Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details

Note: Vacancies for Persons with Disabilities are advertised separately under Advertisement No. 280/202425. Therefore, PwD reserved vacancies are not shown in this advertisement. The number of vacancies may increase or decrease as per requirement.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess Diploma in Civil Engineering obtained from Technical Examination Board or any of the Universities or Institutions established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India; or any other educational institutions recognised as such or declared as deemed to be a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; OR possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
• Important Note: Candidates holding Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering are NOT eligible to apply.

• Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 is required.
• Language Knowledge: Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both is required.
• Citizenship: Candidate must be a citizen of India or possess nationality as per the provisions of Rule-7 of Gujarat Civil Service Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Salary/Stipend

• For the first five years: Fixed salary of Rs. 26,000/- per month as per Finance Department Resolution dated 18/10/2023.
• After five years of satisfactory service: Regular appointment in Pay Level-4 (Rs. 25,500/- to Rs. 81,100/-) as per 7th Pay Commission.
• All other benefits as per government resolutions will be applicable.
• The appointment is subject to the judgment of Supreme Court in SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012.

Age Limit (as on 30/01/2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 33 years
• Age Relaxation for General Category Women: 5 years (maximum age 38 years)
• Age Relaxation for Reserved Category Men: 5 years (maximum age 38 years)
• Age Relaxation for Reserved Category Women: 10 years (5+5) (maximum age 43 years)
• Age Relaxation for General Category PwD Men: 10 years (maximum age 43 years)
• Age Relaxation for General Category PwD Women: 15 years (10+5) (maximum age 45 years)
• Age Relaxation for Reserved Category PwD Men: 15 years (5+10) (maximum age 45 years)
• Age Relaxation for Reserved Category PwD Women: 20 years (5+10+5) (maximum age 45 years)
• Age Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen: Period of service rendered plus three years beyond the upper age limit.

Application Fee

Note: Application fee must be paid online only through Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets. Transaction fee will be applicable as per rules. The examination fee paid will be refunded to candidates who appear for the examination.

Selection Process

• Selection will be based on a one-stage competitive examination through MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) type Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) / OMR method.
• The examination will be conducted in two parts: Part-A and Part-B.
• Part-A (90 Marks): Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (30 marks), Constitution of India, Current Affairs, Gujarati and English Comprehension (30 marks).
• Part-B (120 Marks): Questions related to technical qualification and its applications.
• Total 210 questions will be asked for 210 marks.
• Total time allotted: 3 hours (180 minutes) for both parts combined.
• Negative Marking: 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
• Minimum Qualifying Standard: 40% for both Part-A and Part-B separately.
• Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the competitive examination.
• Candidates equal to approximately two times the number of vacancies will be called for certificate verification based on provisional merit list.
• Final selection will be made based on merit and category-wise vacancies.

• Candidates must upload a recent passport size photograph with white background taken within one year before the last date of application.
• The same photograph must be used at all stages of recruitment including examination hall ticket and certificate verification.
• Multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of all except the last confirmed application.
• Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023 is applicable to all examinations conducted by GSSSB.
• Candidates found guilty of unfair means will face legal action as per the Act.

• Click on "Online Application" and select GSSSB.
• Select Advertisement No. 355/202526 for Work Assistant, Class-3 and click on Apply.
• Click on "More Details" to read the detailed advertisement.
• Click on "Apply Now" to open the application form.
• Fill in Personal Details carefully (fields with red asterisk * are mandatory).
• Fill in Educational Details accurately.
• Accept the Assurance (Guarantee) by selecting "Yes" and click "Save".
• An Application Number will be generated after saving. Note down this number for future reference.
• Upload recent passport size photograph (white background) and signature in JPG format (not exceeding 15 KB).
• Photo size: 5 cm height and 3.6 cm width; Signature size: 2.5 cm height and 7.5 cm width.
• After uploading photo and signature, click on "Confirm Application" and verify all details.
• Make corrections if necessary before confirming. No changes can be made after confirmation.
• After confirming, a Confirmation Number will be generated. Save this number.
• Pay the examination fee online through Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets by 02/02/2026 (11:59 PM).
• Take printout of the application form and fee receipt for future reference.
• Download the Call Letter/Hall Ticket when notification is published on the Board's website.
