Andhra Pradesh New Districts List 2023

 On January 26, 2022, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, and his cabinet proposed 13 new districts under AP Districts Formation Act, section 3. The government published the final notification on 4 April 2022. The new districts will be formed as mentioned below

        Now the state of Andhra Pradesh has 26 districts spread across three regions. Uttarandhra, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Uttarandhra consists of Srikakulam, Parvathi Puram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Alluri sitharama Raju, Anakapalle, and Visakhapatnam districts. Coastal Andhra consists of Kakinada, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, N.T.R, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam and SPSR Nellore districts. Rayalaseema consists of Kurnool, Kadapa, Nandyala, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Y.S.R, Annamayya, Tirupati, and Chittoor districts.

Srikakulam

     The geographical area of the Srikakulam district is 4,591 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenu divisions are divided into 30 mandals. The district headquarters is located in Srikakulam town. The famous Sun God Temple is located at Arasavalli village in Srikakulam. It is one of the ancient and all among two sun god temples in our country.

Vizianagaram

         Vizianagaram district has an area of 4,122 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 20 mandals. The headquarters of the district is in Vizianagaram. The Vizianagaram district was once a part of ancient Kalinga.

Parvathipuram Manyam

       Parvathipuram Manyam district has an area of 3,659 sq. km. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 15 mandals. The district headquarters is located at ParvathiPuram. The Parvathipuram Manyam district is the least populous district.

Kakinada

        Kakinada district has an area of 3,019 sq. km. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 21 mandals. The district headquarters is located in Kakinada. The district is well known for its sweet called Kaja. Which became a famous recipe in South India known as ” Kakinada Kaja”.

Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema

        Dr. B.R. Ambedkar district has an area of 2,083 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 22 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Amalapuram. Konaseema is an attraction of beauty and peace that is a dream tour destination for all.

 Anakapalle:

        Anakapalle district has an area of 4,292 sq. km. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 24 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Anakapalle. The chief crop cultivated in this region is sugarcane. Anakapalle district is well known for its jaggery market, which is the second largest in India.

Visakhapatnam

         Visakhapatnam district has an area of 1,048 sq. km. The district is also known as Vizag. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 11 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located in Visakhapatnam. In terms of area, Vizag is the smallest district of AP. It is one of the oldest port cities in the country. And this city is famous for beautiful beaches and Pochampally, Ikat sarees.

Eluru 

          Eluru district has an area of 6,679 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 28 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Eluru. Kolleru lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India located in the Eluru district.

Krishna

           Krishna district has an area of 3,775 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 25 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Machilipatnam. Krishna district is considered the heart of Telugu culture and is the birthplace of the famous Indian classical dance form Kuchipudi.  

East Godavari

         East Godavari district has an area of 2,561 sq. km. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 19 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Rajahmundry officially known as Rajamahendravaram. It is an important place with its rich and various temples and shrines.

Guntur

       Guntur district has an area of 2,443sq. km. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 18 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Guntur. The Guntur district is the main producer and exporter of most varieties of chilies and chili powder from India to other countries. It is Asia’s number 1 red chili hub.

Palnadu

      Palnadu district has an area of 7,298 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 28 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Narasaraopet. This region is notable for the battle of palnadu.

Bapatla

          Bapatla district has an area of 3,829 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 25 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located in Bapatla. This city has one of the oldest Hindu temples in the state, Bhavanarayana Swamy Temple. It was built during the 14th century by the Chola rulers.

Prakasam

        Prakasam district has an area of 14,322 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 38 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Ongole. In terms of area, Prakasam district is the largest district in the state. 

N.T.R

         N.T.R. district has an area of 3,316 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 20 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Vijayawada.

Annamayya

          Annamayya district has an area of 7,954 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 30 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Rayachoti.

Y.S.R

         Y.S.R district has an area of 11,228 sq. km. The district has four revenue divisions. The four revenue divisions are divided into 36 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Kadapa.

Kurnool

            Kurnool district has an area of 7,980 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 26 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Kurnool. Kondareddy Burz is the historical monument and major tourist attraction of the Kurnool district.

Sri Sathya Sai

              Sri Sathya Sai district has an area of 8,925 sq. km. The district has four revenue divisions. The four revenue divisions are divided into 32 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Puttaparthi.

Alluri Sitarama Raju

               Alluri Sitarama Raju district has an area of 12,251 sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 22 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Paderu. Araku valley, borra caves, and the eastern ghats at lambasingi are famous places in the district.

Chittoor

             Chittoor district has an area of 6,855 sq. km. The district has four revenue divisions. The four revenue divisions are divided into 31 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Chittoor. The famous Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy temple is located at kanipakam in the Chittoor district.

SPSR Nellore

          SPSR Nellore district has an area of 10,441sq. km. The district has four revenue divisions. The four revenue divisions are divided into 38 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Nellore. The SPSR Nellore district has the highest population in Andhra Pradesh.

Tirupati

          Tirupati district has an area of 6,855 sq. km. The district has four revenue divisions. The four revenue divisions are divided into 34 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located in Tirupati city. The district is famous for the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple situated on the hill town of Tirumala in Tirupati.   

Ananthapuram

          Ananthapuram district has an area of 10,205sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 31 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Ananthapuram. The district is well known for its gold resources. Ramgiri, a village in the Anantapur district has gold mines.

West Godavari

          West Godavari district has an area of 2,178 sq. km. The district has two revenue divisions. The two revenue divisions are divided into 19 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Bhimavaram.

Nandyal

            Nandyal district has an area of 9,682sq. km. The district has three revenue divisions. The three revenue divisions are divided into 29 mandals. The district administrative headquarters is located at Nandyal.

            On 4th April 2022, the government of Andhra Pradesh issued the final notification about the formation of 13 new districts. Now Andhra Pradesh has 26 districts. These new and smaller districts are created to make governance easier and benefit the people by making the administration easier for them.
